preposterous rhys<p>I'm coming to the end of my current notebook, a plain white A4 <a href="https://mastodon.rhys.wtf/tags/Midori" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Midori</span></a> MD, and I've just ordered the book I'll be kicking the year off with: an A4 hardback <a href="https://mastodon.rhys.wtf/tags/Rhodia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Rhodia</span></a> WebNotebook, plain ivory pages.</p><p>I use Rhodia dotpads for my lists, and About: Blanks upcycled notebooks for my personal writing.</p><p>I'm really kinda excited to go back to the classic Webby. Rhodia/Clairfontaine paper has always been my favourite, but I've always thought the books from both ugly. They have some nice ones now though.</p>
Eyelit 👁️‍🗨️<p>Time for a change! While the old one was not yet empty at all, it did no longer dispense ink at any angle. So I always had to twist the pen in my hand to find the right position. Grison<p>I might be a sucker for cheap Chinese <a href="https://penfount.social/tags/notebooks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>notebooks</span></a> that cost around $6 apiece and have a paper feel that I can only describe as "wool-ish" compared to more common recommendations like <a href="https://penfount.social/tags/Rhodia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Rhodia</span></a> and <a href="https://penfount.social/tags/Leuchtturm1917" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Leuchtturm1917</span></a>/ <a href="https://penfount.social/tags/Leuchtturm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Leuchtturm</span></a>, which to me feel kinda more plastic-ish.</p><p>The Chinese notebook papers feel soft, and like to suck in <a href="https://penfount.social/tags/FountainPen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FountainPen</span></a> ink. This often (but not always) gives pens broader lines than they usually have, which is both bizarre and interesting to me.</p>

Henriette<p>Just inked up my TWSBI 🖋️ I have to mark essays today so I decided to see if my fine nib will take a shimmer ink without clogging. Usually, I use broad nibs for shimmer ink but I would like to mark with shimmer ink. DJW<p>Somewhere along the line, I got it into my head that <a href="https://ohai.social/tags/Rhodia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Rhodia</span></a> was more expensive as a "daily driver" notebook, and settled on Midoris for the purpose.</p><p>There is, in fact, not a meaningful cost difference at my rate of consumption. Rhodia's A5 spiral behaves far better inside a Travelers Notebook cover, as well. </p><p>Nothing against Midor - it's great paper. But for sheer usability and joy of writing, Rhodia is just more enjoyable to use frequently, IMHO.</p><p><a href="https://ohai.social/tags/fountainpens" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fountainpens</span></a></p>

I&#39;ve also became a bit more analog &amp; plan/journal my guitar practice as well. I can feel myself coming out of a plateau already this month. Amazing how awesome going more analog is.
