Experimenting with Johannes Jendersie and @eugenedeon 's new Mie scattering approximation from #SIGGRAPH2023 in #RenderMan XPU volume #rendering. Unfortunately I don't have a tabulated Mie implementation for reference!
Yesterday was the #Pixar #Renderman Art & Science Fair. Many great presentations, including DNEG & #Nimona, Rob Pieké going down a Rubik’s cube solving rabbit hole, plus a surprise appearance of a famous director
The most outlandish thing was the pre-show music choice which inspired me to play my iPhone ultra wide and zoom lens seamless transitions. Notice how the sound is recorded differently depending on the zoom level!
So happy Nimona was rendered with RenderMan. It was a long road to the screen. #SIGGRAPH #Renderman
