It's just a Bluesky account that restricts its visibility outside the BSky network, which means it can't be bridged.</p><p>So, yeah, it's a good start, but it needs tweaking.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Mastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Mastodon</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/QuotePosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>QuotePosting</span></a></p>

Mastodon Migration<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@tess" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>tess</span></a></span> The concern is that with the current system good posts get promoted and the author gets credit. This is the way you build engagement. If the quote booster is the post that goes viral then the original author doesn't really get credited for their work. Popular accounts would have the potential to drown out smaller accounts, whereas now popular accounts promote good posts by smaller accounts. This could really impact the way Mastodon works.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/QuotePosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>QuotePosting</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/QuoteBoosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>QuoteBoosting</span></a></p>
Mastodon Migration<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@tess" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>tess</span></a></span> One aspect of quote boosting, that should get attention is how boosts are tallied. This may seem like a minor point, but when you boost a post the post's original author gets the boost, and people can see how popular the post is based on the number of people who boost it. With quote boosts, who gets the boost credit? The original author or the booster, who may just type "read this...". </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/QuotePosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>QuotePosting</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/QuoteBoosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>QuoteBoosting</span></a></p><p>1/2</p>

One of the things that Mastodon has done very well is not to over promise, and to make certain that when something is released that it generally works. Quote Posting is a big change and we need to give them time to get it right.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/QuotePosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>QuotePosting</span></a></p>
Mastodon Migration<p>Screenshot Quote Posting</p><p>By now you may have heard about the change eliminating the frustrating 16:9 cropping of posts in feeds (<a href="https://mastodon.social/@Gargron/110774797138668211" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">mastodon.social/@Gargron/11077</span><span class="invisible">4797138668211</span></a>).</p><p>One of the biggest implications of this change is that you can now quote post simply by attaching a screenshot of the original post. You can be confident that the quote post image will properly display everywhere and not cut off on the left, right, top or bottom.</p><p>Whatever you think about <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/QuotePosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>QuotePosting</span></a>, this is something we can now do.</p>
