I've been testing it with a self signed CA client and server certificate automatically deployed to #postgres doing streaming replication
pg_hba.conf hostssl cert
It was really fun as I ended up with client certificates that didn't align with the client key which again led to openssl silently dropping the client cert falling back to password auth
