Ah, the Podman Desktop saga continues as the self-proclaimed "best" open-source tool struts around claiming to be Docker's nemesis. 🦄✨ It's like watching a community theater production of "Docker: The Sequel," but with even more open-source pretentiousness. 🎭🔧

@komish @davemq Unfortunately, #PodmanDesktop had a different start-up process than I remember. This time there was an "onboarding" wizard that walked through failing to install Compose and Kubectl. The former just failed, and the latter I didn't give it permission to install as root. Also /usr/local/bin doesn't exist in #NixOS. So, I'll probably have to do a little work if I want to install those plugins.

@komish @davemq Thanks! That is a much better description of quadlets than I've seen before. The last time I tried to generate a SystemD script from podman I got a depredation notice and a link to some incomprehensible quadlet documentation. I was furious! Why remove something that just works and is simple, and replace it with something overly convoluted and confusing?

This article clarifies that a bit. Unfortunately the last time I tried #PodmanDesktop on #NixOS it didn't work 😢
