Interesting twist: I just took a photo of my yellow blanket with my old Pixel 5 and my new Pixel 8a.
On my laptop screen the look pretty similiar. So I was wrong. It's not the Pixel 8a's camera fault, but its screen's.
So I guess the Pixel 8a's screen calibration is too cool.

Believe it or not, but I returned my new Pixel 8 and went back to my old Pixel 5. I could have gotten used to the size, weight and the mediocre fingerprint scanner on the front. But the mediocre battery life and the too-cool colors produced by the camera were too much! I missed my little baby!
I just disassembled my #pixel5 to put a new battery in it..
How did very hard-to-replace batteries become common place?!

I use @rdns on my Pixel 5 to block all the rest!
@gwb My Pixel 5 has a cycle count of 749 and a maximum cappacity of 66 % (data from aBattery).
It's less than the promised 80 %. But it's still fine for me!

I cracked the code. The YouTube app is getting so non-performant that resetting it to the factory default restores smooth scrolling and playback. Unfortunately, because #google is a #monopoly, I can't use my #youtubepremium subscription in any other #Android app and it auto-updates every day after uninstalling it, eating 0.9 GB of data.
Yay, #pixel5 planned obsolescence.

Sigh. The Pixel 9 looks to be the 4th time in a row where Google makes a phone that, to me, is inferior to the Pixel 5. This mainly due to the "small" Pixel 9 being 31 % heavier than the Pixel 5.
How is this an improvement?
Oh well; at least my old Pixel 5 is still... well, not great, but arguably not dead.

Google Photos kann jetzt auf meinem (alten) Pixel 5 auch "Scharfzeichnen". Immer wieder schön, wenn man neue Funktionen bekommt!

stellt sich raus: nein, das #Pixel5 geht nicht als "Müll" in meinen Besitz über - weil Konzernrichtlinie
Gibt also zwei potentielle Möglichkeiten:
- man kann gerade richtig scheiße billig hunderte Pixel5 gebraucht kaufen, weil der Konzern (und andere) die loswerden wollen
- die landen echt im Müll, statt in meinen Bastlerhänden
Also nicht dass ich das dringend hätte haben wollen… aber ich sehe keinen Ausgang der irgendwie nennenswert sinnvoll ist?
TIL: Mein #Pixel5 Diensttelefon wird wohl nächsten Monat nicht mehr von meinem Arbeitgeber supportet ("keine Softwareupdates mehr") und weil ich das Ding primär für Dienstmails/Kalender brauche, ist es danach #eWaste

Das Gerät wurde nicht-mal 3 Jahre vor dem Enddatum bestellt.
