controlfreak<p>Is anyone managing to actually use a <a href="https://mas.to/tags/pine64" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pine64</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/pinetab2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pinetab2</span></a> ?</p><p>It's already a couple years old and the default OS looks stale and barely network able?</p><p>The first pinetab was clunky asf although i managed limited usage on a few different OS'. I daily drove and loved the pbp for what it's worth, but need tablet format for bad PH days. My 8 yr old degoogled device took flight into some concrete today. oof</p><p>Or open to another linux tablet? that doesn't require stealing a balaclava to knock over a bank.</p>
Jawsh<p>before I take this thing apart to check, does anybody know if the <a href="https://207.social/tags/pinetab2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pinetab2</span></a> has an nvme slot in it? anything other than microsd to expand storage?</p>

And do you plan to release any <a href="https://207.social/tags/gnome" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gnome</span></a> images? I'd like to keep an SD card with GNOME tucked away for the next time I inevitably Bork my system while playing around.</p>

DanctNIX<p>The BES2600 Bluetooth driver just connected to a pair of earbuds. 😎 </p><p>What has been tested so far (and confirmed to be working):<br>- Audio (a little laggy)<br>- Keyboard (mouse should work too)<br>- Phone<br>- BLE GATT</p><p><a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/pinetab2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pinetab2</span></a> <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/danctnix" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>danctnix</span></a></p>
DanctNIX<p>Hey <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/PineTab2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PineTab2</span></a> users,</p><p>We're working on a new Bluetooth driver for the BES2600.</p><p>More information will come soon.</p>
Jawsh<p>Turns out I did not forget to plug in the LCD when assembling the <a href="https://207.social/tags/pinetab2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pinetab2</span></a><br>It was just super duper dead.<br>So, that's back up and fully functioning.</p>
Jawsh<p>I've got 2 working <a href="https://207.social/tags/pinephone" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pinephone</span></a> one is mint and the other has a chipped piece of glass missing on the bottom corner, covered with paper and super glue. Both work perfectly. The <a href="https://207.social/tags/pinetab2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pinetab2</span></a> which needs to be opened up and the LCD plugged in. A mint <a href="https://207.social/tags/pinetime" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pinetime</span></a> a 1st gen <a href="https://207.social/tags/pinepower" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pinepower</span></a> a 1st gen <a href="https://207.social/tags/pinecil" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pinecil</span></a><br>Also have the wireless charging backplate for the Pinephone and some random watch bands/straps.<br>$225 takes it all.</p>
Jawsh<p>Well the <a href="https://207.social/tags/pinetab2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pinetab2</span></a> is charging at least. Clearly I forgot to plug something in while reassembling it after replacing the digitizer. But somehow taking it apart was more difficult than opening an iPhone or Pixel device. I'm not even going to bother with it again. So I'm going to follow this post up with some <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/@pine64" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>pine64</span></a></span> hardware for sale.</p>
Jawsh<p>Digitizer in the <a href="https://207.social/tags/pinetab2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pinetab2</span></a> replaced successfully. Time to plug this puppy in and see if I broke anything else in the process. 😂</p>
Luigi311<p>Huge performance buff incoming for panfrost devices thanks to some <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/mntreform" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>mntreform</span></a> users. They tested with rk3588 on the reform pocket and got 3x the overall motionmark score. For me I tested on the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/pinetab2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pinetab2</span></a> and got an overall 2x and some of the individual tests had a massive improvement. They submitted the MR upstream to mesa so it should hopefully be merged in soon especially since its a small change.</p><p><a href="https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/merge_requests/35678" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/me</span><span class="invisible">sa/-/merge_requests/35678</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/mobilelinux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>mobilelinux</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/mesa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>mesa</span></a></p>
DanctNIX<p>The Wi-Fi driver on the <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/PineTab2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PineTab2</span></a> appears to be much more stable now. Kernel 6.15.2 coming soon. Stay tuned!</p>
Jawsh<p><span class="h-card"><a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/@pine64" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>pine64</span></a></span> you guys failed making the <a href="https://207.social/tags/pinetab2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pinetab2</span></a> easily repairable. I've broken about 12 different tools trying to open this thing and can only seem to unclip the side where the ports, power and volume buttons are located. I've had better luck opening up and repairing iPhones and Pixel devices. This thing feels like its glued shut?</p>
DanctNIX<p>Alright, it's time to finally start using this account.</p><p>For those that are unaware, we moved from Fosstodon to TH.S on April 26, 2025 and we haven't posted anything on this account since then.. until now.</p><p>A quick introduction, we're the maintainer of an Arch-based distribution for <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/PinePhone" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PinePhone</span></a>, <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/PinePhonePro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PinePhonePro</span></a> and <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/PineTab2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PineTab2</span></a> and our latest release (at the time of this toot) was in December last year (it's been that long, huh)</p><p>This account will be used to post updates and news about that distribution.</p><p>Thanks treehouse.systems team for letting us in. 😎</p>
Jawsh<p>really want to order a replacement glass &amp; digitizer for my <a href="https://207.social/tags/pinetab2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pinetab2</span></a> but not sure what it's going to cost me upon delivery. About a $50 order with shipping but the disclaimer about about paying upon delivery worries me. A potential $200 in fees for a $20 screen is going to cost more than the tablet did initially.<br>does anybody know how I could disable the digitizer/touch input? At least then I could use it docked without the damaged digitizer registering ghost touches.</p>
