Went through the lid pouch of my backpack, to remove clutter and extra weight. Found I have quite the #EDC collection...

I guess it can be split into #Electronics, #Tools, #Sewing and #EverydayLife.

What I'm showing in the photos is the stuff I decided to keep in there (yes, there was more).

There are also other little pouches on this backpack that I keep other essentials in, but I'll just stay with the one for now.

Check the #AltText for details.

EDIT: Danke für die Vorschläge! 😊

Spent some time designing a compact travel case for my #Pinecil soldering iron.

There are a few designs available for #3DPrinting, and while the base designs are fine I have some issues with all the ones I've seen.

Good thing I know how to make my own...

Turned out great and with a PD power bank I'm very portable.

Only thing I'm missing in there is my Engineer SS-02 solder sucker. Might have to give that a go too.

Let's recharge the #Sandberg 420-75 #powerbank, via a USB "PD65W" PPS, fed from my RD6006 bench top power supply.

I'm using my #Pinecil preset - if it's good enough for the soldering iron …it's perfectly adequate for charging the powerbank! 😅

I'm "re-commissioning" my old Siswoo C55 Android phone, as an auxiliary stop watch.

*sigh* 😩

NEITHER, my old #Samsung Galaxy S7, NOR #Ubuntu #Gnome #noble 24.04 LTS (Clocks app) is ABLE to run more than ONE stop watch, simultaneously!
…for FOX' sake! 🤬

🤣 well, passing Dave's cuppa-test, is a #Benchmark for #SolderingIrons.

My PSU has nuffin' to do with that!

Benchmark: a "cuppa" is Bri'ish/Oz/Kiwi for "a cup of* [usually tea]" - in this benchmark scenario, it's a cup of (cuppa) cold-ish tap water, into which you'd dip the tip of your soldering iron.

Dave "EEVblog" Jones: If it can maintain temperature, it's worth its salt.

#Pinecil V2 passes, fed via DC 5525 barrel jack. (it fails, via USB-C PD, with 240W reputable cable + 100W powerbank)

For "good measure", i've labelled my #RD6006 type bench top lab power supply.

(My inheritance [years ago] enabled me to purchase the whole package - "thanks, Nana!" 🥰 [RIP])

It's got a 60V 6A internal Meanwell(?) PSU - the point is, it should be able to output up to 400W.

I haven't quite figured out the "Wifi"-thing, though! Or is it Bluetooth? 😅

It does everything, i need it to do. It powers my #Pinecil soldering iron, M1 preset, 25V 4.5A limit - easily passes Dave's cuppa-test! (#EEVBlog)

Hey #electronics #maker types:

If you put together a rather small (~1 - 1.5L) soldering kit that's your "Hey I'm going to sit down and do some soldering" kit, around a #pinecil or #ts100 type iron, what do you make sure goes in there so it all stays together and you don't have to go hunting when you sit down to work?

So far I've got:
* The iron - a Pinecil
* A nice, flexy, properly-capable USB-C cable to run it with
* Some solder wick
* a high-quality piston-type solder sucker
* some 0.8mm flux-core lead-free solder
* an OK'ish set of flush cutters
* a high-quality (Klein) wire stripper 22-30AWG
* a few small pieces of heat-shrink
* a heat-set insert setting tip for the iron
* a small Phillips screwdriver for iron tip changes

I intend to add:
* a piece of brass wool
* a piece of cellulose sponge
* a foldup iron stand

What am I forgetting? My intent with this kit is that it isn't necessarily a "travel soldering kit" and also is not a "everything for electronics" kit, but a useful way for me to organize the tools and some consumables according to purpose.

Have you got ideas? I'd really love to hear them.
