Another hardware-focused project is #RIVET, making a plug-and-play way for #RISCV systems to connect to #ethernet
https://nlnet.nl/project/RIVET/
These are the small things that go a long way in speeding up #OpenHardware development.
(I don't know if you gathered, but I like using open, customisable, and repairable devices that I can specially tailor to my needs—and I'm excited to see this take more shape in future!)

Universal #EInk Solutions, which aims to provide a consistent API for driving #epaper displays
https://nlnet.nl/project/Universal-EInk/
As someone who cannot concentrate for long periods on bright screens and the owner of an e-ink monitor as well as an e-reader, this is something I'm looking forward too as it'll increase hackability and enable the development of more #OpenHardware devices!
(On a related note, I also learnt during the course of the meeting that #Modos is also an NLnet-funded project)

OpenFlexure is an open source laboratory-grade microscope used to diagnose malaria and cancer. In this interview Julian Stirling, one of the core developers, tells us how the project evolved from its academic roots to a diverse community of people who use it, build it, sell it, teach it & develop it.
OpenFlexure is manufactured in many places to build local capacity. The next step is medical device certification, a slow but worthwhile process.

Europe has a unicorn obsession, and frankly it needs to stop.
The EU is pouring €43 billion through the CHIPS act into creating "European champions," but we're missing the bigger picture: why are we treating essential tech infrastructure as private property instead of public commons?
We need a different approach. One that serves public benefit over private extraction. Read my thoughts here: https://tarakiyee.com/the-hardware-innovation-monopoly-problem-why-europe-should-stop-chasing-unicorns/

My Sensor Watch Pro just arrived!
Time to take apart my Casio wristwatch to install it! ...as soon as I can find my tiny philips screwdriver.
Curious how we program our two giant lasers?

Open Healthware (an @oshwassociation conference) is free to attend, online or in person, this week on Aug. 1-2!
As a preview, I'm interviewing Herine Palacios and Avinash Baskaran on #HacksterCafe, today (Tuesday) at 10:30am Pacific. We'll talk about the schedule, health tech, art, open #robotics, and more!

FWIW, I'm a big fan of #OpenHardware projects. And I'm also busy enough (or lazy enough) that I'd buy the pre-assembled hardware outright. Having freely available plans and specs means that I can hack on it, a big appeal to buying stuff. In practice, that rarely happens.

Hier eine kleine Geschichte darüber, wie ich zum #MEGA65 kam, und was sich seitdem ereignete.
Viel Spaß beim Lesen!

Looking at schematics and #firmware of #Teufel #MYND waterproof portable speaker.
Very cool to check out their #OpenHardware design, though not much to see.
Everything of note runs through the WB-2835P #Bluetooth / Audio Module. It even acts as USB-Soundcard and digitizes Line-In, then outputs #I2S to the amplifier chips.
