After upgrading to #Ubuntu 24.04 #NobleNumbat, I spent a considerable amount of time trying to figure out why the UI text looks so different. Did they switch the font rendering engine? Did they change the default for hinting? Well, turns out its really the Ubuntu font family: Now they’re shipping a new, slimmer version. Do not approve.

Ubuntu #NobleNumbat gets its .1 update with Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS 🔶

As Ubuntu celebrates its 20 years, this .1 brings a consolidation of fixes and improvements identified during the initial launch of 24.04 LTS to bring you a Linux operating system that you can use with even more confidence, for your day-to-day, for development or AI projects, for use within your enterprise - or all of the above.

Tried installing Ubuntu 24.04 LTS on a low-end device. The installation process is much more user friendly.

I hate it.

It crapped out midway through and there was no way to tell why; no terminal output, so no way to confirm whether it's actually progressing or are you just looking at a stuck animation.

(I was looking at a stuck animation)

Back to 22.04 LTS I guess 🤷‍♀️

just installed Ubuntu Studio 24.04 on my framework 16 and then added gnome, complete with a binary clock, clown widget, and some throwback wallpapers. loving the new workspace indicator! (the ·—·· in the top left)

as part of this process, I (somewhat) learned how to upgrade gnome extensions made before version 45. lots of logging out/in to test it XD

also screw snap packages, installed firefox deb from the ppa first thing
