David Shields<p>George Fash Nesbitt was born 214 years ago 13 Jan 1809 in New York City. He was a printer, inventor &amp; exclusive distributor of Edwin Allen’s wood type. By the mid-1840s Nesbitt’s printing house was the largest job office in NYC &amp; likely the US. His 1841 wood type catalog remains the 1st know showing of chromatics.
