How efficient and useful are DNS block lists? I've done it for years but recently found this really cool database and effort providing massive lists, and multiple usecases that ultimately do the same thing. Whether computer, or network wide. There's a few different options.

Quick reminder for the #network #admin:
1. ALWAYS patch your #firewall
2. ALWAYS set up multi-factor auth for vpn access
3. ALWAYS set up geoblocking
4. ALWAYS disable unneeded accounts
5. ALWAYS disable public weblogins
Or you will suffer an incident sooner or later. Do such things even if you‘re lazy, because ransomware ruins lives in different ways.
It is just annoying to see the same mistakes leading to ransomware incidents happening over and over. It‘s called a firewall for a reason.

I finally have a separate guest WiFi network with a QR code on a fridge. And a separate IoT network. Even made the printer work across VLANs. And #Plex to stream locally. Because the app is on the #Samsung TV, and I don’t trust it, so it is also on the IoT network. The only thing left to be fixed is #AirPlay on the TV.
