Fossery Tech :debian: :gnome:<p>However, I have another plan, which isn't this hard to implement, and I already planned it independently from the one mentioned above: I'll make an HTML-CSS-only site, with a more minimalistic UI, which can be displayed correctly even in browsers with limited HTML/CSS support, especially targeted to Dillo and NetSurf users (the original site is broken in these browsers), but of course they will work in all other browsers (including Ladybird, Servo, Pale Moon and Otter in which the original site also has some minor issues). The new site will also be hosted on Codeberg, like the original one, so it wouldn't be any worse from a privacy perspective. The only downside will be, that it won't include all features, because some content like the utilities can't be implemented with HTML and CSS only. Quizzes could be done with HTML and CSS, but they would require advanced CSS features which aren't supported by Dillo and NetSurf, so I'll leave those out too. What I'll include are the articles, programming cheatsheets and an about page for now.<br>More details, sample design coming in a few days.</p><p>As for the original site, I originally wanted to discontinue it, but since I don't do the Java stuff anymore, and the new minimal version won't include every content, I'll continue to maintain the original one too. It won't receive many updates until I "finish" the new minimal one, but after that, I have quite a few plans for that too (see Issues tab of repo: <a href="https://codeberg.org/fosseryweb/pages/issues" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">codeberg.org/fosseryweb/pages/</span><span class="invisible">issues</span></a> ).</p><p><a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/JavaScriptFree" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>JavaScriptFree</span></a> <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/MinimalWebsite" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MinimalWebsite</span></a> <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/Lightweight" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Lightweight</span></a> <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/LightweightWebsite" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LightweightWebsite</span></a> <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/Minimal" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Minimal</span></a> <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/WebDev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WebDev</span></a> <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/WebDevelopment" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WebDevelopment</span></a> <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/Website" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Website</span></a> <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/Dillo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Dillo</span></a> <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/NetSurf" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NetSurf</span></a> <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/FosseryWeb" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FosseryWeb</span></a> <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/FosseryTech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FosseryTech</span></a></p>

I sometimes wonder if we all should've just stayed HTML 4.xx with W3C truly in charge instead of the WHATWG (which acts more like a browser cartel led by Google)...<br><br>I'm pretty disappointed with the dismissive attitude towards <a class="hashtag" href="https://pleroma.envs.net/tag/palemoon" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#PaleMoon</a> though. I guess it comes from the fact that I have contributed plenty to its development (people might know me best for bringing in the JPEG XL support to it but personally I'm most proud of my successful effort to unbundle Spidermonkey from the bloated xul.dll in Windows which I think was a mistake by Mozilla). I do want <a class="hashtag" href="https://pleroma.envs.net/tag/servo" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#servo</a> to succeed too (as well as <a class="hashtag" href="https://pleroma.envs.net/tag/ladybird" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Ladybird</a> which is another fresh engine, and old-timers like <a class="hashtag" href="https://pleroma.envs.net/tag/seamonkey" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#SeaMonkey</a>, <a class="hashtag" href="https://pleroma.envs.net/tag/dillo" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Dillo</a>, and <a class="hashtag" href="https://pleroma.envs.net/tag/netsurf" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#NetSurf</a> to name a few), but we have to admit that it will take a long, consistent protracted effort for these newcomers before they come close to being "viable". Granted, Pale Moon does suffer from lots of web compatibility issues too (so I don't want to sound like I'm overhyping it like I don't want people to overhype the from-scratch engines), but the fact that Mastodon and YouTube to name a few "Web 2.0" sites can function in PM (even if the latter can be unbearably slow no thanks to the ungodly amounts of JavaScript being loaded) and not in Servo (last I tested like a month ago) just shows how far apart they both are right now when it comes to webcompat.
