Moritz<p>So, <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/NetlifyCMS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NetlifyCMS</span></a> got a new name a couple of weeks ago: <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/DecapCMS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DecapCMS</span></a>. But right before Netlify announced the new owner/name, a community fork called <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/StaticCMS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>StaticCMS</span></a> was created. And – compared to Decap CMS which is still mostly dormant – the fork actually put a lot of work in and is about to release a new major version v2 in about two weeks. I'm really excited for this new version to be a proper successor to <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/NetlifyCMS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NetlifyCMS</span></a>. <a href="https://github.com/StaticJsCMS/static-cms" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">github.com/StaticJsCMS/static-</span><span class="invisible">cms</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/CMS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CMS</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/WebDev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WebDev</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Jamstack" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Jamstack</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/StaticSiteGenerator" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>StaticSiteGenerator</span></a></p>
Moritz<p>Oh well now I understand why <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Netlify" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Netlify</span></a> decided to abandon <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/NetlifyCMS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NetlifyCMS</span></a>. <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Gatsby" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Gatsby</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/WebDev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WebDev</span></a> <a href="https://www.netlify.com/press/netlify-acquires-gatsby-inc-to-accelerate-adoption-of-composable-web-architectures/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">netlify.com/press/netlify-acqu</span><span class="invisible">ires-gatsby-inc-to-accelerate-adoption-of-composable-web-architectures/</span></a></p>
Moritz<p>The demise of <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/NetlifyCMS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NetlifyCMS</span></a> is really a shame. It's such an important project and there are no real alternatives. I hope that one of the community forks will be successful <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/WebDev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WebDev</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/CMS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CMS</span></a></p>

deasún 🇮🇪🇵🇸<p>We&#39;re in the process of dropping self-hosted <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/netlifycms" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>netlifycms</span></a> and building a custom one. Set up a static web server for all our <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/svelte" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>svelte</span></a> web apps to bypass the build process when clients making changes through a CMS. </p><p><a href="https://sws.joseluisq.net" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">sws.joseluisq.net</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p>3/5</p>
James :fedora: :sway:<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://fosstodon.org/@kev" class="u-url mention">@<span>kev</span></a></span> I use Hugo and Netlify, and enjoy the work flow. That being said, the time I had <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/NetlifyCMS" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>NetlifyCMS</span></a> running it was difficult to modify the template to accurately preview the posts. I eventually just abandoned NetlifyCMS and went straight to editing posts on the terminal and git.</p><p>I am curious to see how your experience is with NetlifyCMS. If you value the ability to edit content on a web interface, my vote is still with WordPress.</p><p>Good luck!</p>
Ru<p>Shifted from <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/NetlifyCMS" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>NetlifyCMS</span></a> to <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Forestry" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Forestry</span></a> - the UX for initial setup just works &amp; the UI+UX for the <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/CMS" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>CMS</span></a> is night and day. Build previews are incredibly fast, wasting just a fraction of the free-tier build time quota on <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Netlify" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Netlify</span></a>. Lovely product and has my full <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/recommendation" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>recommendation</span></a>.
