JavAlps<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://berlin.social/@asltf" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>asltf</span></a></span> If you don't have experience with <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/neovim" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>neovim</span></a> then how are you going to code in it (you could still do it, after all it's just a text editor, but not productively). You should at least need to know how it is configured. You could use existing distributions like, <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/NvChad" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NvChad</span></a>, <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/lazyvim" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lazyvim</span></a>, <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/astrovim" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>astrovim</span></a>, <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/spacevim" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>spacevim</span></a>, etc. Or, if you got time, create your own config -&gt; <a href="https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsz00TDipIffreIaUNk64KxTIkQaGguqn" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsz</span><span class="invisible">00TDipIffreIaUNk64KxTIkQaGguqn</span></a></p>
Miek Gieben<p>I loved vim-go when it came out and I've used it for years, but current lsp/neovim/conform/nvchad setup negates the need for using vim-go....</p><p>This almost out-of-the-box neovim experience is quite powerful</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.cloud/tags/neovim" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>neovim</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.cloud/tags/nvchad" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>nvchad</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.cloud/tags/golang" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>golang</span></a></p>
JavAlps<p>Although there are some fantastic <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Neovim" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Neovim</span></a> distributions out there (like <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/lazyvim" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lazyvim</span></a>, <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/nvchad" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>nvchad</span></a>, <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/astrovim" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>astrovim</span></a>, etc.) that provides everything out of the box but, I still prefer creating my own config. It makes me feel that everything I do is in my own control, every plugin, every keymap.</p><p>What y'all think about this ?</p>

Johan 🌀<p><span>Hey, </span><a href="https://infosec.town/tags/Neovim" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Neovim</a><span> people. Thoughts on a good mostly pre-made distro? I started learning with NVChad for 3-4 months, then started making my own config from scratch, but I still don't have the experience to make it fully functional.<br><br>Considering going back to a dist. Thoughts on anyone in particular? </span><a href="https://infosec.town/tags/LazyVim" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#LazyVim</a><span>? </span><a href="https://infosec.town/tags/NVChad" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#NVChad</a><span>? Other? Looking for something that lets me do things the vim-like way so I can actually properly learn that, and then eventually start making my own config from a blank slate.</span></p>

I am trying to setup Conjure with NvChad but even if I vim.g.maplocalleader = "," it seems that the local leader is not recognized, is there someone who can help? I am sure I've missed something but I cannot see it...

is a script/tool to configure NVIM for you. It sets some nice themes, extensions,... that make it almost feel like any GUI editor. I'd recommend to give it a try.

You can still later change things if you want and make it your own, but it allows you to really get started with it.

Tip: Install a Nerd Font like "Fira Code Nerd Font", or icons wont work :)

Good morning folks. This week I have taken a dive and am experimenting with learning #neovim (currently rocking #neovide front-end, with the #NvChad starting config). So far enjoying my little venture into this world, but it cannot be denied that the learning curve is STEEP.

Does anyone have any suggestions for resources / tips to smooth out this learning curve a little?
