🤖 E esta, então, que, como costuma dizer Prof. Pasquale, poderia ter sido composta amanhã? Gil a fez há nada menos que 56 anos! :mindblown:

I went through my beets library and linked a bunch of releases to their #musicbrainz IDs. I'm now down to just 49 releases without a MBID.

35 if we exclude an outlier of a friend from whom I have quite a few demos later reworked into albums.

@remilia The new is working great, love it. Runs just as well for me as the stable 0.6 release. I didn't test any fancy file formats, though, just very boring FLACs and Ogg Opus :)

submission is working well, that's important for me. Would be great to see support for including IDs from the files, but that's probably an enhancement for the future.

There is a new release python-discid, the Python wrapper for the library.

Together with jonnyJD, the original author, we moved this library under the MetaBrainz umbrella and I have taken over maintenance. Last release before was 6 years ago, so the main goal is to keep python-discid maintained.

See the blog post for more info:

@PixelProphecy Thanks so much for this! Pure nostalgia. I just purchased the download and are listening right now. 🎶

I just noticed little inconsistencies in the tags:

• Track numbering starts with 0 and there’s no #16.
• The composer is credited as “Sue Casper”. However, “Kasper” is the correct spelling. This also applies to the artwork.

By the way, I’ve added the release to #MusicBrainz: musicbrainz.org/release/0d5417 😀

My #listenbrainz statistics have recently been generated and wow, this is awesome!
At first I was confused but realised it was filtering to just this week, which is great tbh. I can filter by this or last week/month/year and All Time. It shows me the days or months where I listened to the most music, my top artists + albums + tracks (in that time period) as well as a detailed breakdown of the top artists and which albums my listens are on. Artist Origins is also very cool.

#MusicBrainz and #ListenBrainz first impressions

Very dated website, unclear navigation
Figured it out, added an artist and one of their EPs
How to add collaborating artists that aren't the 'main' ones?
Logged into listenbrainz
Linked Spotify, requested full listening history (ooh this will be interesting!)
Seems to work well with a bit of a delay
Importing playlists doesn't work; many songs are missed
Liked Songs is not an available playlist?

Speaking of music photos, in the past I used to regularly post them on Instagram, and it was quite easy to tag both the venue and band by linking to their accounts. In the Fediverse this is not really an option, however there is a very rich set of open-data for venues and bands, and that is @musicbrainz I would love to see a feature in @pixelfed where one could use this data to tag live music photos. #MusicBrainz #Pixelfed #OpenData
