About 2 months ago, I set up a #Mobilizon server to give people a decentralized, ActivityPub connected, alternative to #FacebookEvents, https://my-group.events
It really pleases me to see that people are discovering it and using it to manage events instead of using big-tech owned centralized corporate controlled solutions.
Thanks to an inquiry posed by @wendy yesterday, I discovered two amazing projects to map community events from aroubd the #fediverse on an @openstreetmap base.

Other than no templates and the long list of caveats and workarounds, #mobilizon would do all of what I need, if it worked. I believe it was originally meant for planning protests; music is our protest 
Sadly support collapsed years ago. A new agency recently took over, they released one update that then fucked up the calendar widget and have been busy on other things since. It was SO close 
I could do all this with ordinary WordPress, but where's the fun in that?

For a Music Label site, I need …
- groups with sensible fediverse handles
- groups are site members only, assigned by admin
- membership added only by CSV or such
- members have a fediverse presence
- a Local feed and a site fedi acct
- events can be replicated and venue profiles stored
- toots look at least ok on other platforms
- template customization or theme that's not ugly
- group calendars

Looking back, I see #Mobilizon did allow me to enter both Sept 1 and 29, 2024, so this no-Sundays feature must be new; there was one 'update' since then.
This seems too incredible to be true: #Mobilizon will not permit events on Sundays?? If this is a server setting, I can't find it, but I can pick any sunday I want, and the Event date editor will 'correct' that to the day before. Who, in 2025, would even want such a 'feature'?

Yesterday: Deployed #perl db-to-api tool https://metacpan.org/pod/WebAPI::DBIC, once for a project where folks now don’t have the “I don’t write Perl” excuse to contribute, and once against #Mobilizon, cos I just give up with #graphql. Now I have to deal with the it’s db schema instead #programming
