It's obvious that AOSP is on borrowed time. There's only so long before Google closes the source (eg Project Fuschia ) or limits enough it might as well be closed (ie makes it even more dependent on a million closed source Google apps).

Enjoy it while it lasts (which may not be long), but let's get going creating, using and supporting Linux phones so we have a decent option when open source Android fully dies!

Initial release of the #immich upload daemon is ready for people to use and report the tons of issues it probably has lol. You can find it here github.com/luigi311/immich_upl Feel free to open any issues/PR. Its still missing the charging only option but the networking features are there so you can set wifi only and/or SSID checking and you can even just check for metered connections. Mostly developed on my and for my #FLX1 via remote vscode.

Dear @Mer__edith and the the amazing @signalapp team,

After the last update, the Signal "desktop app" is requiring us to launch the mobile app - however, many of us do not have the Android or any other "mobile" version of the Signal app any more.

We are a large (by our standards) group of #Linux phone users, and your "desktop" app is our "mobile" app : )

Our previous phones on which #SignalApp was initially activated was an Android or Apple device and we have since then completely migrated to #Linuxphones. Some of us may have registered Signal on #signalcli, Flare, #Molly, Signal Android in #WayDroid, etc.

The #mobileLinux community is growing - we have members spanning a good number of projects and devices, e.g.
- @purism #Librem5 and #LibertyPhone running #Debian-based #PureOS #GnuLinux, #Alpine-based #PostmarketOS or #Mobian,
- @PINE64 #Pinephone and PP Pro running #ManjaroARM, #SailfishOS, etc.
- @furilabs #FLX1 running #Droidian-based #FuriOS,
- a wide variety of Android phones (including OnePlus 6, Google Pixel 3, #Fairphone 4 & 5) running #Alpine-based @postmarketOS ,
- @volla , #Fxtec and #Brax3 devices running #UbuntuTouch by @ubports,
- devices running @mobian which is part of #Debian project, etc.

[Apologies to any project I may have failed to include - you are all appreciated]

Lilbits: AI-enhanced search for Windows PCs and Amazon’s Big Spring Sale

Many of the latest laptop processors from Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm have high-performance neural processing units that are supposed to let you run AI applications locally without sending any data to the cloud. But so far Microsoft and PC makers have had a hard time coming up with things that you can actually do with all that on-device AI processing power.

Originally Microsoft’s biggest […]

didn't realize that @Liberux posted the modem they are going to use. Is anyone on #linuxmobile familiar with the Snapdragon X62 and how well its supported on mainline? Looking at the specs its really new and modern so performance and efficiency should hopefully be amazing. That of course does depend on if power saving modes can even be activated. What are everyone's thoughts/experience on it? Also wonder if its hooked up via usb similar to #librem5

@linmob

Thanks for another interesting roundup! Great to see all the work happening on smooth, high end video playback, even on the Pinephone! Also interesting to see what #Liberux are working on. Hopefully the product will match the promises! We need more decent spec Linux phones! (Preferably at non-insane prices but hey, I'm prepared to pay a premium if the hardware is worth it).

Gnome 48 also brings so many improvements to Gnome Mobile.
Scrolling is just as smooth as it's on Android.
OSK and Touch text selection are better now.
And the cameras have started working on #Oneplus6
Overall, it's getting to where it is starting to feel like a real alternative 🤩️.

My dream of crawling away from the clutches of Big-Tech gets closer.
