The story in this game is nonsensical, but it was a delight to play. Suffice to say, I did not beat it.</p><p>First attempt I literally died before doing any damage at all. I got the pattern down for the 1st phase, but I take too many lasers to the face in the second. Each time I get a bit better.</p><p>I can see why people might rage quit or DNF because of the final boss. I think I can do it, but I'm liking Dread too much, so I'll go back and find expansions for a while. Scribblemacher<p>I couldn't resist, so I finally got a used copy of <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/MetroidDread" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MetroidDread</span></a> and started it this weekend. There's a lot to like here: Samus controls like a dream and bosses feel much more skill based than other games in the series.</p><p>The EMMI's are frankly horrifying. I just beat the speed one and holy hell is it scary when it runs you down! It was a lot faster than I expected (and "fast" is not what I associate with Metroid), and those EMMI sections are ridiculously terrifying.
