As a happy user of #MastodonSocial since 2022, I’m contributing to #Mastodon’s #Patreon to support the project and instance

Thanks for keeping the server very stable & up to date!

It could be a perfect love story if almost every day, I find myself writing posts longer than the #500characterlimit

As a result, I need to spend a lot of time rewriting my posts without losing their meaning

Please consider expanding this limit.

I need to speak out on the issue of Mastodon.Social and the way it platforms people who literally call for Jews to be murdered, but then silence people who speak out.

While I don't always agree with either their assessments or their approaches, Truth Sandwich (now disappeared from the Fediverse?) and 8124 have both been Suspended from Mastodon.Social while accounts like Aral Balkan and Fabio Manganiello continue to post antisemitic content, up to and including calls for murder.

For this and similar reasons, I can't recommend Mastodon.Social, and I ask that followers on Mastodon.Social please try to find instances that either block hate speech, or (at least) then don't block those who speak out against it.

mastodon.social is like a gateway to the Fediverse.

And like most gates it doesn't work if everybody just stands there and clogs it.

Move along!

And for fedis sake close registrations to that massive nuisance already!
We don't need a single gate to the federated universe.

Ich hab grade irgendwie beim blocken eines Accounts aus Versehen die ganze Domain mastodon.social blockiert und 1/4 meiner Followis verloren. Habs auch schon wieder entblockt. Hat wer ne Idee, wie bzw. ob man die Accounts reimportieren kann? Ansonsten sorry an die betroffenen Accounts. Ggf. erneut folgen. #mastodonsocial

Ich muss einfach mal loswerden, dass ich mich bisher auf keiner Social Media Plattform so wohl gefühlt hab, wie hier. Hier fühlt es sich wenig synthetisch an, es gibt viel mehr Interaktion und viel weniger Selbstdarsteller.

Often when I point out antisemitic hate speech on Mastodon.Social, a German person will tell me about the law in Germany and how M.S must remove certain types of hate speech because of the law there.

I get these messages from Germans every couple of weeks.

The problem is that only applies to a very narrow set of posts, and not other forms of antisemitic speech or hate speech generally.

Mastodon.Social complies with the law, but *just* the law.

They can say "We remove hate speech" and then define that as "Whatever German law says is hate speech."

Which to some means "Anything which is not removed must not be hate speech."

If you want to have hate speech removed because it's illegal in Germany, please do so, but let's not fool ourselves that if m.s does this that it means they care about hate speech, Jews, or any other minorities in their moderation.

Caring about legal compliance isn't the same as caring about people.

It makes sense to roll it out like this. HOWEVER, #mastodonsocial in particular should REALLY think about how much sense it makes to have, say, a relatively minor quoting of a short paragraph, followed by maybe a paragraph in response.
IOW, quote posts could make already restrictive character limits that much worse, replacing meaningful replies with something less than, and, perhaps, more prone to flippancy / throw away posts.

Hmm the page at https://status.mastodon.social/ says everything is fine and green, but I'm seeing unresponsive from #mastodonSocial, both on desktop web client and via Tusky, while the rest of my Internet access is fine.

Het valt mij op dat veel accounts die zich uitspreken tegen het moorddadige Israëlische regime, van #Netanyahu op Mastodon Social worden verborgen door de moderators.

Maar weer eens kijken naar een andere server om naar uit te wijken.

Welke raden jullie aan?

if you are here from Palestine, and you are here on mastodon.social. Please consider to make one more accounts in case your account might be banned.

That particular server is hosted in Germany (as somebody said), so they ofc may support anti-"antisemitism" or however they call it.

Please make more accounts, if you will be banned, at least you can log in from another account and continue to fight for survival
