I'll write a proper release notice later tonight, but for people who follow me over it:
Maps 1.6.0 are released at at the usual place. All permalinks continue to work.
If there are any OpenStreetMap contributors reading, I have an important correction that needs to be made regarding Spokane, Washington:
I used to live on the South Hill, and could walk to Moran Prairie Elementary School within 10 minutes. It was located at the base of the hill (the street I used to live on is highlighted in orange) However, on OpenStreetMap, it is showing Chase Middle School, which is much further away. I don't know how to edit OpenStreetMap, but there is an important correction that needs to be made here.
I have noted this error to be visible for over 2 months without any attempts to fix it.

The Guardian: Social media and map apps blamed for record rise in mountain rescue callouts. “Honeypot locations posted on social media and poor quality navigation apps are likely to be responsible for a record number of callouts for mountain rescue services, including a huge rise in young people needing to be saved, analysis reveals. For the first time, mountain rescue teams in England and […]

#Navigation #Google #googlefrei #Maps #organicMaps #osm #Wikipedia #opensource
In preparation for Family D&D Night (and with thanks to my earlier guide to splicing maps together!), I've finally completed an expanded "overworld" map for our game world. So far, the kids have mostly hung around on the North coast of the Central Sea, but they're picked up a hook that may take them all the way across to the other side... and beyond?
Banana for scale.
(If your GMing for kids, you probably already know this, but "feelies" go a long way. All the maps. All the scrolls. Maybe even some props. Go all in. They love it.)

So dominiert Google maps unser Leben.

A preview of the London #Petrofuture — the first of the Britain and Ireland series. I’m still working on these, so it might be a while before I post others.

A favorite space exploration map at a time when science fiction and science fact were wonderfully and optimistically blurry...
You know those wild spaces online, the ones where random people can anonymously post things, no one can moderate anything and it all gets blended together and you get a real sense of just how crass and funny humanity is?
Well that's what this reminds me of: https://hoodmaps.com/boston-neighborhood-map and https://hoodmaps.com/liverpool-neighborhood-map for flavour.
Have a zoom around.

Very interesting map showing email servers for every municipality in Europe. Happy to see that Karlsruhe is not dependent on Microsoft or Google.
