Neff :manjaro:<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://chow.fan/@mookie" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>mookie</span></a></span> I've been using <a href="https://mastodon.uno/tags/Manjaro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Manjaro</span></a> for the last three years after 15 years on ubuntu based distros. I really like the idea of a stable yet rolling distribution (so no more version upgrades every now and then) and Manjaro proved to be reliable and hassle free for three years now on my hardware (a Thinkpad T450s laptop).</p>
Pixel<p>Debating switching my <a href="https://urusai.social/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a> laptop from <a href="https://urusai.social/tags/manjaro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>manjaro</span></a> to <a href="https://urusai.social/tags/cachyos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cachyos</span></a> -- anyone have any strong opinions? I'm not sure why other than I've heard manjaro is kinda shitty and cachyos is better, but my laptop took a solid amount of configuration to get everything running smoothly and I'm not sure if it's worth the effort to reconfigure everything (I.e. re-jiggering everything to work with fractional scaling on Wayland without everything being blurry)</p>
Amadeus Paulussen<p>This feeling that the <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/bicycle" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bicycle</span></a> looks like new, runs smoother, shifts better and generally feels crisper after a major service, this exact feeling I just got right now after installing the stable update for <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/manjaro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>manjaro</span></a> with <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/gnome48" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>gnome48</span></a> and kernel 6.14. <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a> rocks! 🤓🥳</p>
Amadeus Paulussen<p>My numbers of the moment are 48.0 and 6.14. ☺️ <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/manjaro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>manjaro</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/gnome" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>gnome</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/update" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>update</span></a></p>

N-gated Hacker News<p>🚀 Behold! Manjaro: the Arch <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> for mere mortals who can't read a manual or spell "sudo". 🤯 It's the Linux equivalent of training wheels for your toddler's first bike, but hey, look at those "enterprise-grade" stabilizers! 🛴<br><a href="https://manjaro.org/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">manjaro.org/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Manjaro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Manjaro</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ArchLinux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ArchLinux</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ForBeginners" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ForBeginners</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/LinuxTrainingWheels" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LinuxTrainingWheels</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/EasyLinux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EasyLinux</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/HackerNews" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HackerNews</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ngated" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ngated</span></a></p>

bhaskar<p>My laptop can boot either <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Manjaro" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Manjaro</span></a> Linux or <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/EndeavourOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>EndeavourOS</span></a>, both <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/ArchLinux" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>ArchLinux</span></a> derivatives and both patched reasonably recently (within the last week). Manjaro has a 6.12.19-1-MANJARO kernel with the Plasma desktop, and EndeavourOS has a 6.13.7-arch1-1 kernel with the Cinnamon desktop. Both have the power profile set to Balanced.</p>
mray<p>I'm thrilled to notice that <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Manjaro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Manjaro</span></a> upgraded me from X11 to Wayland 🥳 !!! Manjaro Linux<p>[Testing Update] 2025-03-26 - Kernels, GNOME 48, Mesa 25.0.2, Firefox, Grub, Plymouth</p><p><a href="https://masto.ai/tags/Manjaro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Manjaro</span></a> <a href="https://masto.ai/tags/distro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>distro</span></a> <a href="https://masto.ai/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a><br><a href="https://forum.manjaro.org/t/testing-update-2025-03-26-kernels-gnome-48-mesa-25-0-2-firefox-grub-plymouth/176163" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">forum.manjaro.org/t/testing-up</span><span class="invisible">date-2025-03-26-kernels-gnome-48-mesa-25-0-2-firefox-grub-plymouth/176163</span></a></p>
Hey Gus<p>Tried getting <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/cachyos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cachyos</span></a> installed as a vmware guest and it continually failed on disk permissions no matter what partition schemes I used. Since this would be my daily driver I took it as a sign to try and mend my <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/manjaro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>manjaro</span></a> install and lucky me, it worked. So happy to find a *massive* performance boost running slack in a chrome window versus a whole electron app. It’s indistinguishable from the “native” app aside from pauses and segfaults!</p>
Dark Photon Studio<p>I have the feeling a lot of <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> users don't "get" <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/manjaro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>manjaro</span></a>. I'll try to explain, for myself anyway. I'm an advance Linux user, but I'd never call myself a guru. I'm not an IT or CS guy. My main interest is, and always has been, to get away from <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/windows" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>windows</span></a>. I've learned enough to break things, and maybe not end up formatting the drive and reinstalling. It offers just enough customisation to make it my own (in my case, <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/xfce" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>xfce</span></a>) Because it's a rolling release, the <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/software" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>software</span></a> is up-to-date but also lags a week behind <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/Arch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Arch</span></a>, which is fine by me. And at this point, it works for me, I've learned its quirks, and don't want to hop to something else.</p>
