I seem to have some federation issues, so here are two more photos I like from last week's LBM that I originally posted on Pixelfed. Full description: pixelfed.social/p/WildRikku/81

The first one is with my friend Sarah, who is partly responsible for me becoming a cosplayer. On the second, I met someone who shares my fascination for weird mechanics. :D I got to talk to a lot of people this time but it's always especially cool when someone asks about the gunblade.

Two more photos that I like from last week's LBM, where I cosplayed Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII.

Sarah on the first photo is partly responsible for me becoming a cosplayer instead of limiting myself to making props, which is where it started. Can't believe this was the first time I met her in an outfit - we've known each other for quite a few years now.

The lady on the second photo was very fascinated by the gunblade. :D I was recognized quite often this time and talked to quite a few people about Final Fantasy stuff, but I'm always especially happy when someone is interested in the gunblade and the transformation mechanism since that is what I spent the most time on. You can see both forms on these photos, even though it's not fully transformed to gun form on the first photo since one of the mechanisms currently needs maintenance.

I really had a great time at the LBM / MCC. When I started 1.5 years ago, I had the illusion of going to LBM 2024 in cosplay. It took another three months until I had a version that I could show. So it was cool to go there this year, now with an almost finished version. It's a huge event, but I like how well the book people and the anime / manga / cosplay people mix. Even among those not in cosplay (and there are MANY cosplayers!) there's a lot of people with wigs or ears or just cool outfits and it's just a very friendly atmosphere.

Here's another photo from yesterday's LBM visit, with Reno from FF VII. This one was taken in the glass hall, where a lot of cosplayers meet. It's a weird location. It has the best photo spots, but it's also much louder and much warmer than the other exhibition halls. You can tell how much sun gets in there by my glasses, which started to turn dark because of the UV light.

Here's one of my favorite photos of yesterday's visit to LBM / MCC. Since the auto focus failed, it's probably technically the worst, but I was really happy to find someone cosplaying a character from Metaphor: ReFantazio so here's Lightning and the protagonist, captured a little tired and shortly before the end of the day.

She said there were others, too, and apparently there was a little (impromptu?) meet-up with Hulkenberg, Junah, Strohl and her. I recently wondered why there seemed to be not many Metaphor cosplays so that was nice to hear and I'll watch out for them at future cons. I wonder if someone does Eupha.

Got the back straps and decoration pieces ready in time. Needs edge cleaning and little optimizations here and there but that will have to wait. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied! :) It was tricky to get as many things to match as possible since obviously I am of very different stature than Lightning but it worked quite well.

Auf dem Schwarzen Sofa der #LBM25 #MCC25 wurde eben das Manga Issho vorgestellt - ein europäisches Magazin für Mangas europäischer Mangaka! Die erste Ausgabe kam auch jetzt zur Messe heraus, alle 3 Monate sollen neue Nummern folgen.
Die vier Verleger aus Italien, Frankreich, Spanien und Deutschland erzählten, wie das Projekt zustande kam. Der Name "Issho" heißt "zusammen" auf Japanisch und steht für den Geist des gemeinsamen europäischen Projekts. Spannende Sache!

Am Nachmittag gab es auf der Leipziger Buchmesse eine Präsentation über philippinische #Comics - ein bisher bei diesem Medium kaum beachtetes Land. Ein Vertreter der dortigen Comic-Organisation Komiket stellte die Bemühungen um die Förderung von Comics vor, für die inzwischen sogar die staatliche Buchförderung gewonnen werden konnte. Auch viele Beispiele wurden gezeigt, die eine große inhaltliche und stilistische Vielfalt des philippinischen Comics zeigten. Hoffentlich sieht man davon künftig auch in Deutschland mehr. #Philippinen #LBM25 #MCC25 #LeipzigerBuchmesse

Tomorrow I'll get my boots back and I'm excited how well the custom made insoles will turn out. I really like these boots and would like to be able to wear them not only for the cosplay, but they were a little too large.
