S01E01. First Contact
Before the Future Came is a podcast that looks at the ideals of Star Trek as we voyage from one episode or film to the next, following a breadcrumb trail of motifs. How is the universe portrayed in Star Trek a truly egalitarian utopia, and how does the world subtly uphold the hegemonic values of our present day?

A3: Seemed like it was a side effect of whatever they were trying to use #Locutus for.
However, for as long as the #Borg have been in existence I'd have thought crazy generational stuff like this (or worse) would've been part of their failsafe in case any of their drones were captured and freed. Elegant explanation for why the liberated Borg drones in S1 could hear the cube.
Goes to show the Borg are only really as smart as their writers.

I've just completed watching the 178 episods of Star Trek: The Next Generation - that I watched only partially back in the nineties.
peak moment with Locutus of Borg
And now, onward with Deep Space Nine!

#AllStarTrek "Janeway," the #BorgQueen says with menacing recognition. You ever heard a Borg queen say, "#Picard," or, "Sisko," like that? I rest my case.
Borg Queens are like, "Ah, #Locutus has returned," and, "Hey Data, wanna get stimulated?"
Hrm... and now I think the Borg Queen might have had a couple of man crushes.

Whenever I open Threads, I am bombarded by all of the thoughts from the Collective.
Star Trek fans tell me... is Threads how the Borg began?

#AllStarTrek I watched #StarTrekFirstContact this weekend. Haven't seen it for decades, and I did not remember the whole "crazy #Borg ex-girlfriend back to destroy #Locutus' world by banging his best friend #Data" subtext.
That movie is crazy. Like... damn bruh.
As if the depiction of #Picard's assimilation into the #Borg wasn't traumatic enough, #StarTrekFirstContact turned it into some sort of recovered memory, sexual assault by the #BorgQueen when he was #Locutus.
The craziest part is that when a traumatized Picard finally confronts the Queen, and gives in, the Queen is like, "Hm, no thanks, I got a new boo." And then Data proudly stands next to her, "He will make an excellent drone, honey."
Lotta #SurvivorAbuse in this #StarTrek movie.
@ajroach42 the episode where #Picard returned to his family vineyard, and ended up fighting and reconciling with his brother, is also very good. It actually showed Jean-Luc being confronted with his #PTSD as a result of the deaths he has (unwillingly) caused while part of the #Borg Collective as #Locutus. Sadly we don't often see #StarTrek having characters deal with trauma from previous episodes. Picard does again to lesser extent, I think in I, Borg, and First Contact.
