OMG! Ubuntu!<p>PineNote (a Linux-Powered e-Ink Tablet) is Coming Back</p><p>Pine64 has announced plans to make for a new production run of its open-source e-ink tablet. The PineNote was announced in 2021, building on the success of its non-SBC devices like the PinePhone (and later Pro model), the PineTab, and PineBook devices. Like most of Pine64’s devices, software support is largely tackled by the community. But only a small run of developer units have so far been produced, primarily bought by developers within the open-source community with the knowledge and impetus to work on getting a modern Linux OS to run on the hardware, and adapt to the e-ink display. :sys_more_orange:<br><a href="https://hello.2heng.xin/tags/Hardware" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Hardware</span></a> <a href="https://hello.2heng.xin/tags/News" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>News</span></a> <a href="https://hello.2heng.xin/tags/LinuxTablets" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LinuxTablets</span></a> <a href="https://hello.2heng.xin/tags/Pine64" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Pine64</span></a> </p><p>:sys_omgubuntu: <a href="https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2024/10/pinenote-linux-powered-e-ink-tablet-returns" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">omgubuntu.co.uk/2024/10/pineno</span><span class="invisible">te-linux-powered-e-ink-tablet-returns</span></a></p>
OMG! Ubuntu!<p>This $149 RISC-V Tablet Runs Ubuntu 24.04</p><p>DeepComputing has unveiled an new version of its DC-ROMA RISC-V tablet&nbsp;— and this one runs Ubuntu! The&nbsp;DC-ROMA RISC-V Pad II&nbsp;boasts a 10.1 inch (1920×1200) IPS 10-point touch display, and is powered by the same SpacemiT K1&nbsp;SoC found in their RISC-V Ubuntu laptop (which launched with a confused set of pricing tiers and availability). That chip comprises eight 64-bit RISC-V cores running up to 2.0 GHz, plus the RVA 22 Profile and 256-bit RVV 1.0 standard to provide “powerful AI capabilities”, and an Imagine Technologies BXE-2-2 GPU, a baseline 800 MHz effort. Memory wise, the base model offers 4GB LPDDR4 RAM. :sys_more_orange:<br><a href="https://hello.2heng.xin/tags/Hardware" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Hardware</span></a> <a href="https://hello.2heng.xin/tags/News" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>News</span></a> <a href="https://hello.2heng.xin/tags/LinuxTablets" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LinuxTablets</span></a> <a href="https://hello.2heng.xin/tags/Risc" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Risc</span></a>-V </p><p>:sys_omgubuntu: <a href="https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2024/08/dc-doma-pad-ii-risc-v-tablet-runs-ubuntu" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">omgubuntu.co.uk/2024/08/dc-dom</span><span class="invisible">a-pad-ii-risc-v-tablet-runs-ubuntu</span></a></p>
