Weiterer interessanter Punkt zu #libretranslate ist, dass die API andere Übersetzungen liefert, als das Webinterface. Das deutet darauf hin, dass unterschiedliche Language Models zum Einsatz kommen. Why?

Hier mal ein Beispiel für #libretranslate. Und die Übersetzung von Deepl.com dagegen, die wirklich sehr gut ist.

Puh, #libretranslate ist so schlecht. 
Voy a detener por un momento el buscador #SearX y el traductor #LibreTranslate por razones de mantenimiento. Sólo tardaré 10 minutos y los echaré a andar de nuevo.

Una nueva instancia de #LibreTranslate que monté hoy. LibreTranslate es un servicio web de traducción basado enteramente en #SoftwareLibre , que no depende de Google ni de ninguna porquería GAFAM para traducir un montón de idiomas. No es muy rápido y las traducciones tampoco son las más notables, pero funciona muy bien y sirve como alternativa libre a Google Translate.
La instancia está orgullosamente montada desde mi Raspberry Pi (la cual muestro en este video: https://video.hardlimit.com/w/ikLu3NcB6drzoFKDmMXa2z) y está hosteada desde mi hogar. Para darle más uso a mi RPi es muy probable que migre acá mi instancia de #SearX desde mi VPS. En todo caso, no les puedo prometer un uptime del 100% dado que la energía eléctrica se va muy a menudo por mi casa, pero sí les aseguro que mantendré el servicio lo más accesible que se pueda

True @jesuisatire, and the translation feature and the language setting feature. Two really neat things. Even tho #libretranslate still is far behind deepl and from your kind of spanisch into english we might get another clash of civilizations like pointed out by the @utopiarte profile.
I wonder if or how we could help #libretranslate to improve itself, like:

In leck of registering an DeepL Account I havn't tried this out, but the default translation is not good. It often remains untranslated words. What does still work languages can speak, it no hell on real foreign languages.
If you let the deepl API field empty you can save, but gui will throw an error. This may confuse other users. Maybe without API-code you can't save or set back to default?

You might know that #Fedilab runs its own translation server (using #LibreTranslate).
But did you know that the app also supports two other translators?
- #Lingva: you won't need extra steps though you can change the default instance.
- #DeepL: A more powerful translator. It's a paid service but you can get 500,000 characters per month for free.
Everything is configurable in settings Have a look to media descriptions).

This weekend I want to install #LibreTranslate by @argosopentech in our server, next to #Discourse Translator by @Discourse and the Multilingual Plugin by Pavilion (which --small world-- I helped design in my professional role years ago).
I'm quite intimidated because I haven't touched LibreTranslate ever and I haven't found a guide connecting these pieces.
But social music lovers deserve a multilingual space, so here we go. Links welcome!

А какие клиенты ещё так умеют? В #Husky я не нашёл заветную кнопочку.

Updates on the libretranslate-ts library: I added the possibility to specify if you want alternative translations returned. Libretranslate-ts is a TypeScript library that talks to the LibreTranslate API. Also added Spanish and Romanian translations of the README documentation.

He descubierto que puedo instalar el servicio de #LibreTranslate en local con #Docker y he conseguido reemplazar el uso de #DeepL en mi instancia de #Mastodon para las traducciones. Otro gallifante para el equipo open source 
Cansado de copiar y pegar texto para traducir los toots, acabo de poner a funcionar un servidor Libretranslate para traducirlos directamente desde Mastodon. No es perfecto, pero es gratis y autoalojado.
Me encanta el software libre.
