Continuing posting memories from fieldwork in Kamchatka years ago. Our colleague Саша showed us how to make плов in his Petropavlovsk apartment. Best part are the whole garlic gloves that are slow cooked in the rice. Вкусно!

Continuing throwback to Kamchatka fieldwork in 2010: After a multiple day barge ride, we landed on the morth shore of Ozernoi Lake, and several hours later were dropped off near the mouth of a small river for a month of fieldwork by вездеход "go everywhere vehicle". Riding on top was quite fun, inside was a claustrophobic nightmare of fumes, gear, and people. #Kamchatka #fieldwork #geology
April 2013 #Kamchatka. A 6 hour snowmobile journey from the remote town of Klyuchi led to a really rough overnight camp in a blizzard. Next morning we proceeded on foot and over this pass to gain our first view across the flat glacier expanse to the #mountains of Klyuchevskaya Sopka 4754m and Kamen 4585m.

An awesome and slightly intimidating sight especially with those intimidating lenticular #clouds pouring over the summits.
