Ben Ramsey<p>It turns out I had my PHP CodeSniffer settings set to "By default project interpreter," but I didn't have `phpcs` configured with the default project interpreter?</p><p>I'm not sure how the UI was showing me code style warnings, based on my `phpcs.xml` file settings, but it was.</p><p>When I added a `phpcs` configuration for "By default project interpreter," things began working as expected.</p><p><a href="https://phpc.social/tags/PHP" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PHP</span></a> <a href="https://phpc.social/tags/PhpStorm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PhpStorm</span></a> <a href="https://phpc.social/tags/JetBrains" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>JetBrains</span></a></p>
Axel Morgner<p>At least, Jetbrains made the new AI stuff in <a href="https://frankfurt.social/tags/IntelliJ" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>IntelliJ</span></a> opt-in.</p><p>Most of the listed „AI“ features trigger red flags in me. My personal experience with AI programming tools is:</p><p>Nice for beginners, but a waste of time for most experienced devs.</p><p>The LLMs aren't able to understand a large, complex code base grown over a decade.</p><p>Sure, a relatively smart code completion is nice. But I don't have a problem with typing faster, I need to make additions and changes at the right place in a very complex system. Nothing a statistics-based tool can really be of help.</p><p>So please <a href="https://frankfurt.social/tags/Jetbrains" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Jetbrains</span></a>, make sure the AI stuff stays off by default, thank me later.</p>

Ben Ramsey<p>Is it just me, or does PhpStorm 2025.1 have a bug where it's not running phpcbf when you select "PHP Code Beautifier and Fixer: fix the whole file?"</p><p>It's getting very annoying, and I have checked and re-checked my settings a million times.</p><p><a href="https://phpc.social/tags/PHP" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PHP</span></a> <a href="https://phpc.social/tags/PhpStorm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PhpStorm</span></a> <a href="https://phpc.social/tags/JetBrains" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>JetBrains</span></a></p>
The Peter Pan of Nerdery™ 🇦🇺<p>Does anyone out there use <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Jetbrains" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Jetbrains</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/PyCharm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PyCharm</span></a>? If so, thoughts on free vs pro? (I know there’s a 30 day trial.)</p>
Curtis Carter<p>I don't know when it happened, but the AI assistant in <a href="https://floss.social/tags/JetBrains" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>JetBrains</span></a> <a href="https://floss.social/tags/Webstorm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Webstorm</span></a> got really good at predicting what I'm about to write. The single-line auto-complete is accurate enough that I don't feel like I'm fighting the AI anymore and only have to make minor changes like I would with simpler auto completes I've dealt with before. Instead of just giving me the function name when I hit `.` it's also filling in the arguments I intend to use.</p>

It is great! We can give it a few instructions directly or tell it to do everything described in a specific file.<br>It can edit many files without humain intervention and could complete from 50 to 100%. That removes a lot of the boring tasks.<br>I will most likely bust the quota... I hope I can buy more. That is so worth it</p>

Ben S.<p>Why does <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/JetBrains" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>JetBrains</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/Rider" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Rider</span></a> install itself to Program Files (x86) on Windows, when it's a 64-bit app? dazfuller :rickwhoah:<p>So, latest update from <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/JetBrains" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>JetBrains</span></a> gave me the new <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Junie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Junie</span></a> plugin because I'm paying for the all products pack. Figured I'd give it a try over a new demo code base to produce a set of recommended changes.</p><p>The code has 2 database queries right now. One gets a list of all employees, the second gets a record for just one based on an id.</p><p>The recommendation was to make sure I parameterize my queries. Odd, because I am, so I ask for an explanation</p><p>1/2</p>
