Pierre<a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/VendrediLecture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#VendrediLecture</a> "Bone" de Jeff Smith, dans l'intégrale chez Delcourt qui rassemble les 11 tomes de cette série de fantasy humoristique, dans sa version en noir et blanc. Fone Bone et ses deux frères Phoney et Smiley ont été chassés de Boneville par la population furieuse après une énième arnaque politicienne de Phoney. En traversant un désert, ils sont emportés dans un nuage de criquets et se perdent dans des montagnes. Séparé des autres, Bone découvre une vallée verdoyante où il rencontre plusieurs créatures étranges. Un grand dragon blasé qui fume des cigares. Des rats-garous monstrueux et stupides. Une bestiole. Et une jeune fille, Thorn, qui décide de l'aider à retrouver ses cousins et sa ville. Mais de sombres machinations sont en cours et l'aventure prend une ampleur épique au fil des tomes, au point de devenir un récit-monde qui n'a rien à envier à "La Quête de l'Oiseau du Temps" ou à "Lanfeust de Troy", mais dans un style évidemment différent. Écrit et dessiné par un dessinateur d'animation, "Bone" a un style très cinématographique, tandis que son humour et la naïveté de ses personnages peuvent rappeler Mickey ou Donald. Mais le récit trouve son propre ton dans un mélange étonnant entre cette naïveté et un univers onirique, entre rêves et cauchemars. Les ficelles restent classiques, mais le dessin, la mise en case, les personnages parfois très originaux et l'ampleur de la série (ça fait un gros volume de 1300 pages de BD !) font que l'ensemble vaut largement le détour. Tony Crenshaw's LatteAs someone who was completely enamored with Bone and Watchmen in the early 90s (and they remain two of the coolest things I've ever read), this was a very good watch.
