CynicalElysian<p>The Roku Channel is the only FAST/AVOD service that has English dubbed anime from <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/VizMedia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>VizMedia</span></a>, like <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Naruto" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Naruto</span></a>, <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/DeathNote" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DeathNote</span></a>, <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/InuYasha" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>InuYasha</span></a>, <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/HunterXHunter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HunterXHunter</span></a>, and others, so those series potentially being available on a free streaming channel in English is a pretty big deal.</p>
Floaty Birb<p>Also, I super like the background world aesthetics of <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/inuyasha" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>inuyasha</span></a> with its fantasy (but historically grounded) Sengoku Jidai. I like the cute villages with the houses that have rocks to hold the roofs down, the neat little disused shrines everywhere, and the strange foreboding forests and mountains.</p><p>Its a nice contrast to the horror and carnage of the rampaging demons and the (mostly off screen) civil wars lurking in the backstory.</p>
Floaty Birb<p>I do like the fight scenes in <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/inuyasha" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>inuyasha</span></a>, they manage to keep it fresh over and over by adding new elements or changing up the situation; I attribute this to Rumiko Takahashi's careful fight planning in the original manga (which I haven't read).</p><p>I also like how the fights are easy to follow and often give each of the characters something to do. Also, Inuyasha does not do the thing *some* shounen anime do where they have a battle that lasts 15 episodes and makes the audience bored.</p>
Floaty Birb<p>Going through the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/inuyasha" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>inuyasha</span></a> anime, I think I like the episodic one-shot adventures and surprise sitcom episodes slightly better than the to-be-continued shounen battle episode arcs, maybe because they're more bottled and sometimes reveal interesting lore and more character development (and are just more goofy).</p>
Floaty Birb<p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/inuyasha" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>inuyasha</span></a> hot take: I like the S1 Orchestral opening theme (Likeness of a Gale / 疾風の如く) used in the US better than the original "Change the World" opening.</p>
Floaty Birb<p>Other things I liked about this episode</p><p>* the mystery of the villain is suitably mysterious.<br>* Shippo shapeshifting into Kagome to try to get <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/inuyasha" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>inuyasha</span></a> to chill out.<br>* Kaede being her extremely patient self.<br>* having to resort to seals to trap Inuyasha in a hospital shack, and how quickly the magic cloaking device ruse was neutralized.</p>
Floaty Birb<p>Also, this episode gets a shout-out for having a villain who is a wolf who vomits endless three eyed wolves, a tactic that is countered temporarily by Miroku vacuuming the wolves, because as we all know dogs hate vacuums.</p><p>Poor three eyed wolves. Also poor wolf guy; he probably didn't want to be evil.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/inuyasha" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>inuyasha</span></a></p>
Floaty Birb<p>I think this was my favorite episode so far; so much to like between the angst and the silliness and the plot device of of <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/inuyasha" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>inuyasha</span></a> being hurt and needing to heal but being too dumb to sit still. </p><p>It was incredibly funny watching Kagome in class suddenly shouting "I won't forgive him!" and getting in trouble. And how she interacts with the girls in her school, and with poor Hojo, who is real nice but whom we all know doesn't have a chance next to the boy with dog ears.</p>
Floaty Birb<p>my reaction to the end of this episode was "No <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Inuyasha" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Inuyasha</span></a> don't send Kagome home, we all know you're too dumb to do this quest thing on your own!"</p>
Floaty Birb<p>okay, fam, I watched 10 episodes of <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/inuyasha" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>inuyasha</span></a>, by my calculations that's only... 197 billion more to go!</p>
Floaty Birb<p>Idea: one of those warring-states Samurai strategy games, where you play as a Daimyo trying to unify Japan and become the next Shogun!</p><p>Only, it's set in the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/inuyasha" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>inuyasha</span></a> universe, so every now and then a random demon battle wanders and wipes out your army, or your enemy's army, or a demon comes and steals your boats. You cannot predict the demon shenanigans, or do anything to stop them; trying just makes things worse. Eventually, adventurers kill some of them.</p><p>You can still win the game though.</p>
Floaty Birb<p>the time has come to revive the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/InuYasha" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>InuYasha</span></a> fandom.</p>
Jill<p>In avoiding the last arc of <a href="https://NerdJoy.social/tags/TheGreatQueenSeondeok" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TheGreatQueenSeondeok</span></a> , and worrying about my sick dog, I started the 2020 <a href="https://NerdJoy.social/tags/cdrama" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cdrama</span></a> <a href="https://NerdJoy.social/tags/FindYourself" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FindYourself</span></a> which is only rated 7.9 on MDL but the FL is "ancient" at age 32 and loves <a href="https://NerdJoy.social/tags/Inuyasha" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Inuyasha</span></a> manga? (I really liked the anime.)</p><p>So far, it is funny and cute. And a good distraction from :imagination:</p><p>The winter storm this weekend is threatening my chance to see Taemin perform IN PERSON, so one more thing to avoid worrying about. :psyduck: :welp:</p>

Lorenz<p>Rumiko Takahashi is my favorite Mangaka.<br>I started a longer while ago to read <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Inuyasha" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Inuyasha</span></a> and are close to chapter 400 with it I think.<br>And now I started <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Ranma1" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Ranma1</span></a>/2, and ... its just so good. idk, I just love the characters from her stories.<br>tbh I dont read much manga in general (I think I watch more anime), but these just caught me immediately, even so much that I prefer to read the manga instead of watching the anime.<br>I can so much recommend others to take a look too!</p><p><a href="https://chaos.social/tags/manga" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>manga</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/RumikoTakahashi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RumikoTakahashi</span></a></p>
