Kerið Crater is a relatively young volcanic formation, estimated to be around 3,000 to 6,500 years old, in the South of Iceland.
You can walk along the rim and also descend to the waterside at the bottom.
Scientists believe it was once a cone-shaped volcano that emptied its magma chamber during an eruption. The subsequent collapse created the crater's current shape.
Please note: visiting Kerið is not free — there’s a small entrance fee of 600 ISK.

Was es noch häufiger auf Island gibt als Wasserfälle ist Wind, zumindest als ich da war. Manchmal kann er schon ein bisschen lästig werden, aber er kann auch die Wolken in Form bringen wie hier über einem alten Lavafeld auf der Halbinsel Snæfellsnes.

Randonnée vers le Geitahlið (390m alt) et ses alentours : j'ai pu voir un grand champ de lave vieux de plusieurs siècles mais impossible de me rapprocher des deux gros cratères. Faire le tour du champ m'aurait pris des heures. J'ai néanmoins longé une partie jusqu'à ce que ça descende dans une petite vallée. Ensuite, remontée du Geitahlið via un autre versant avec des pieds en compote : marcher dans la mousse est plus fatiguant que la caillasse 
Système volcanique de Krysuvik totalement ratissé !
