Sarah E BourneMy son asked if I could put together a small sewing kit, like the ones you get in hotel rooms, for sewing on buttons. I may have gotten carried away with making "something to stick the needles in". 😂 Made from scraps! Next up: adding some needles, getting a needle threader to stick in the pocket and some thread, adding a pair of small scissors and a random assortment of extra buttons, and dumping it into a small decorative tin I found at the back of the kitchen cabinet.<a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/sewing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#sewing</a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/handsewing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#handsewing</a>

S.T. VejeTrying to hand-sew for the first time in my life, and I think it's going mostly okay so far. Slow, but mostly not terrible 😂 I'm confused, though. I watched some videos and it said to cut a length of thread about the length of your forearm. But if I do that, I keep running out of thread very quickly and have to start over with a new length.
