WAX SIMULACRA 🗡
If you like #GuitarHero #RockBand or #RhythmGames in general, this is for you:

#Activision is trying to push adverts for a Guitar Hero mobile game (for the franchise's 20th anniversary) that doesn't exist. They're advertising a product that doesn't exist, using AI-generated images.

Why they've taken a liking to fakeout "haha it doesn't exist but wouldn't it be nice if it DID? 👀" advertisements is beyond me (AFAIK, they did it with Call of Duty as well), but all I do know is that the 5-fret community has survived until current day, without the help of any major publisher.

Community-made games exist¹, that are either totally free, or are very reasonably priced. Fortnite Festival exists, and is probably the single easiest entry point into rhythm games that exists today. Hell, Roblox rhythm games exist, and are pretty goddamn popular.

(Not defending Epic here, by any means. Simply stating the ease of play.)

So, you know, maybe don't fall for this marketing tactic? And also: if they're usig AI to generate fake ads to gauge support for an actual game, what's to say they aren't using AI to make the game as well?

Fuck this shit. Don't play it. If you see that ad: don't engage. Just scroll on by.

¹ Clone Hero, YARG, GHWTDE, Frets on Fire, GH2DX, Fret Smasher, just to name a few
