Writing this from my "international artist account" (the other one is my "German Rants + German Net politics" account).<br><br>But hey, what a time to be alive – this is my very first international artist cooperation over the Internet and at that over the </span><a href="https://s.basspistol.org/tags/Fediverse" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Fediverse</a><span> ever (!). And it's funny how it got to that - I think I was a bit rude in my comment about a very first demo the Captain released (but only about a certain aspect, his special gift about super catchy song writing was clearly there already back then). So one thing let to another and finally I found myself singing and also providing a little tiny additional sequence that made it (modified by the captain) event into this final version. <br>I apologize for my singing style – typically I'm not using that "male voice posing " persona of mine; but I felt it fits well into this wasteland-end-of-all mood that at the same time is contracted by the Captains light disco beats. <br>Also dat break in the middle!! You need to hear it! <br><br>This may even be stuff for the </span><a href="https://s.basspistol.org/tags/gothdiscoinferno" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#gothdiscoinferno</a><span> created by a certain Bauhausmensch, but I dunno if it qualifies for being good enough just because I sing like a drugged horny goth god. <br><br>I seriously appreciate it you all give it a good listen - and not only this song - the whole album by "Life Substitute" that's the Captain's artist name as my artist name is "die nmi!" is wonderful, there even better songs at it than this. <br>I mean it, this deserves much (!) more attention.<br><br>Also because any money that comes in (if any comes in) will be going out to </span><a href="https://s.basspistol.org/tags/povertyAffected" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#povertyAffected</a><span> people.<br>On top of it it's </span><a href="https://s.basspistol.org/tags/creativecommons" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#creativecommons</a><span> CC-By-SA licensed (not only this track), so feel free to get your copy, even if you can't pay for it.<br>I hope I find time (May soonest realistically) to make a nice remix of it, that will be... different, darker even (if that's ok with the Captain ;) - didn't ask him so far ;) ).<br><br>By the way, there will be more cooperations with Fediverse artists and me in the future, and if the ones read this, they may wonder: Why I'm not reporting back? RL is still very difficult for me (typing right now in the train, going to my health issue plagued parents) - I will make it in April, that's a promise... This one was sung by me back in September I think, when all was fine in my RL. VeGaNGoTH<p><strong>GothDiscoInferno: Bauhaus-Special</strong></p><p><a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bauhaus_(Band)" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Bauhaus</a> ist eine britische Band, die 1978 von den vier Kunststudenten Peter Murphy, Daniel Ash, David J. und Kevin Dompe gegründet wurde. Musikalisch und visuell werden sie als eine der wegbereitenden Bands des Gothic betrachtet. Besonders Sänger Peter Murphy und Gitarrist Daniel Ash waren optisch zwei der ersten Gothics. Peter Murphy, der auch als „Godfather Of Goth“ bezeichnet wird, war sogar das Vorbild für Eric Draven aus dem Comic „The Crow“.</p><p></p><p>Als ich die Band 1986 kennenlernte, war sie bereits seit drei Jahren getrennt. Die Zusammenarbeit soll nämlich nicht immer harmonisch gewesen sein. Das gipfelte 1983 in der ersten Auflösung nach den Aufnahmen zum Album „Burning From The Inside“. Peter Murphy war zu der Zeit an einer Lungenentzündung erkrankt und wurde im Studio von David J. und Daniel Ash ersetzt.</p><p>Nach 15 Jahren, während derer sich die Musiker Solo- und anderen Bandprojekten widmeten, kam es zu einer Reunion mit der Resurrection-Tour. Am 30. Oktober 1998 bekam ich so die Gelegenheit, meine Helden in Hamburg live zu sehen. Von der Tour wurde das Live-Album und -Video „Gotham“ veröffentlicht. Fünf Jahre zuvor hatte ich bereits Peter Murphy live gesehen. Beide Auftritte waren für mich sehr emotional und besonders, aufgrund meiner engen Verbundenheit mit der Band.</p><p>Für das GothDiscoInferno habe ich ein einstündiges Special gemacht mit wichtigen Meilensteinen der Musiker. In der Folge möchte ich wie schon beim <a href="https://vgngth.de/2025/01/27/gothdiscoinferno-joy-division-new-order-special/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Joy Division/New Order-Special</a> zu jedem Lied ein paar Sätze schreiben. Im Gegensatz zum ersten Special habe ich die Songs diesmal chronologisch geordnet.</p><p><strong>Bauhaus – Bela Lugosi’s Dead (1979)</strong></p><p>Bereits mit ihrer ersten Single haben Bauhaus die Szene nachhaltig beeinflußt. „Bela Lugosi’s Dead“ ist bis heute ein fester Bestandteil vieler Gothic-Parties. Der Song wurde live im Studio in einem Take aufgenommen, was bei einer Länge von mehr als 9 Minuten durchaus erstaunlich ist. Er hat eine ganz eigene Dynamik und ist nahezu unerreicht, ein absoluter Klassiker des Genres. Der Text über den Dracula-Darsteller <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bela_Lugosi" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Bela Lugosi</a> stammt von David J.</p><p><strong>René Halkett/David Jay – Armour (1981)</strong></p><p>Die Musik von Bauhaus hatte immer einen Hang zum Experimentellen, das zeigt sich auch in der <a href="https://www.deutschlandfunkkultur.de/jede-ziffer-war-ein-ton-erinnerungen-an-den-maler-rene-100.html" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Zusammenarbeit</a> von David J. mit <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ren%C3%A9_Halkett" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">René Halkett</a>. Der Deutsche Halkett (1900 – 1983) war von 1923 bis 1925 Schüler am Bauhaus in Weimar gewesen und arbeitete ab 1939 als Schriftsteller und Maler in England. 1981 veröffentlichte David J. eine Single mit zwei von ihm vertonten Gedichten Halketts, die der Autor selbst vorträgt. „Spoken Word“ war in der damaligen Post-Punk-Ära durchaus angesagt, nicht erst seit Anne Clark.</p><p><strong>Tones On Tail – You, The Night And The Music (1983)</strong></p><p>Auch Gitarrist Daniel Ash und Schlagzeuger Kevin Dompe, im übrigen der kleine Bruder von David J., widmeten sich während der ersten aktiven Bauhaus-Phase einem Nebenprojekt: Mit Glenn Campling (Bass) bildeten sie die Band <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tones_on_Tail" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Tones On Tail</a>. Diese bestand von 1982 bis 1984 und veröffentlichte in der Zeit ein Album, drei EPs und sechs Singles. Das bekannteste Lied ist sicherlich „Christian Says“, mein Favorit ist das instrumentale „You, The Night And The Music“, denn was braucht eins mehr? Der Sound ist düsterer Post-Punk und doch ganz anderes als der von Bauhaus.</p><p><strong>The Jazz Butcher – Southern Mark Smith (1983)</strong></p><p><a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Jazz_Butcher" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The Jazz Butcher</a> war die Band des Musikers Pat Fish (1957 – 2021). Stilistisch eher im Indie-Pop und Indie-Folk anzusiedeln, tatsächlich mit Jazz-Einflüssen. Bei einigen Alben wirkte auch David J. als Autor, Bassist und Sänger mit, wie auf „A Scandal In Bohemia“ von 1984. Auf der Single-Version von „Southern Mark Smith“, die eine frühere Aufnahme von 1983 ist und die ich in der Sendung spiele, trommelt sein Bruder Kevin Dompe als Gastmusiker.</p><p><strong>Dalis Car – His Box (1984)</strong></p><p>Nach der Trennung von Bauhaus gründete Peter Murphy mit dem Ausnahmebassisten Mick Karn (1958 – 2011) von der Band <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan_(Band)" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Japan</a> und dem Schlagzeuger Paul Lawford 1984 <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalis_Car" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Dalis Car</a>. Die Musik vereint die experimentellen Seiten von Bauhaus und Japan mit dem charismatischen Gesang von Peter Murphy und dem virtuosen Fretless-Bass-Spiel von Mick Karn. Das einzige Album „The Waking Hour“ ist düster ohne klassisch „Gothic“ zu sein. </p><p><strong>Love And Rockets – Haunted When The Minutes Drag (1985)</strong></p><p>Ich hatte eingangs von einer nicht immer harmonischen Zusammenarbeit innerhalb der Band Bauhaus geschrieben, dies traf wohl nicht auf die Instrumentealisten Daniel Ash, David J. und Kevin Dompe zu. Die drei machten nämlich nach dem Ende von Tones On Tail zusammen als <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_and_Rockets_(Band)" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Love And Rockets</a> weiter. Die Band bestand von 1985 bis 1999 und von 2007 bis 2009. Bis 1999 veröffentlichten sie sieben Studioalben und 21 Singles. Sie führten den Weg des Bauhaus-Albums „Burning From The Inside“ musikalisch fort und gaben sich auch ihren Vorlieben für Glam- und Psychedelic-Rock sowie Folk hin.</p><p><strong>The Bubblemen – The Bubblemen Are Coming! (1988)</strong></p><p>Ein Teil meiner Faszination für Bauhaus entspringt der Vielseitigkeit der Musik(er). Es gibt nicht DEN Bauhaus-Stil, nicht DEN Love And Rockets-Stil und auch solo sind die Musiker nicht starr festgelegt. Love And Rockets haben sogar ein witziges Nebenprojekt ins Leben gerufen, bei dem sie sich in Bienenkostümen präsentiert hatten: The Bubblemen. Unter diesem Namen veröffentlichten sie eine EP mit den vier Songs „The Bubblemen Coming“, „Bees“ und „Bubblemen Rap“ (in zwei Versionen). Die hätten sie auch als Love And Rockets veröffentlichen können, so weit weg ist das musikalisch nicht, doch die <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/orbaddict/2848260420" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Kostüme</a> waren witzig.</p><p><strong>Peter Murphy – Cuts You Up (1989)</strong></p><p>Nach dem mäßigen kommerziellen Erfolg von Dalis Car startete Peter Murphy eine Solo-Karriere. Auf „Should The World Fail To Fall Apart“ (1986) und „Love Hysteria“ (1987) folgte 1989 sein bislang erfolgreichstes Album „Deep“ mit der Single „Cuts You Up“, die es in den USA in die Top10 schaffte. Namhafte Unterstützung erhielt er von Paul Statham, dem Gitarristen und Keyboarder von <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/B-Movie_(Band)" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">B-Movie</a> („Nowhere Girl“), der nach dem ersten Album in Peters Live-Band „The Hundred Men“ spielte und bis 1995 sein Co-Autor blieb. Insgesamt bringt es Peter Murphy bis heute auf 9 Studioalben und mehrere Compilations und Live-Alben. </p><p><strong>Daniel Ash – Walk On The Moon (2002)</strong></p><p>Daniel Ash bringt es immerhin auf drei Soloalben, dazu veröffentlichte er ein Livealbum und ein Album mit Neuaufnahmen von Songs seiner bisherigen Bands. „Walk On The Moon“ ist. Seine Musik ist deutlich rockiger als die anderen Projekte.</p><p><strong>David J – Goth Girls In Southern California (2002)</strong></p><p>Der Fleißigste der ehemaligen Bauhaus-Mitglieder ist David J, der nicht nur mir René Halkett, The Jazzbutcher, Love And Rockets und The Bubblemen musiziert hat, sondern auch als Musiker und Co-Autor für viele andere Bands tätig war, u. a. <a href="https://www.discogs.com/de/artist/335460-The-Sinister-Ducks" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The Sinister Ducks</a>, <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane%E2%80%99s_Addiction" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Jane’s Addiction</a>, <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porno_for_Pyros" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Porno For Pyros</a>, <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amanda_Palmer" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Amanda Palmer</a> und <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dandy_Warhols" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The Dandy Warhols</a>. Die Datenbank <a href="https://www.discogs.com/de/artist/263485-David-J" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Discogs</a> zählt darüber hinaus noch 19 Album auf, die David J veröffentlicht hat. Ich habe einen Song von seiner EP „Mess Up“ herausgesucht, in dem auch Peter Murphy namentlich erwähnt wird.</p><p><strong>Kat von D <strong>feat. Peter Murphy</strong></strong> <strong>– Protected (2021)</strong></p><p>Peter Murphy hat für „Protected“ <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kat_Von_D" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Kat von D</a> als Gastsänger und Duettpartner seine Stimme geliehen. Ein sehr schöner Dark-/SynthWave-Song, finde ich. </p><p><strong>Night Crickets – Soul Wave (2022)</strong></p><p>Night Crickets ist das neueste Projekt von David J., mit dem er 2022 das Debutalbum veröffentlichte. Unterstützung bekommt er von Victor DeLorenzo (<a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Violent_Femmes" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Violent Femmes</a>, Schlagzeug) und dem Multiinstrumentalisten <a href="https://darwinmeiners.bandcamp.com/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Darwin Meiners</a>. David und Victor haben schon bei Darwins Solosachen mitgewirkt (Anspieltipp: „Fadeaway Girl“ von der EP „Souvenir“). </p><p>Das waren meine 12 Beiträge aus dem Bauhaus-Multiverse, das noch viel mehr bereithält, quantitativ wie qualitativ. Allein mit Bauhaus, Love And Rockets und den Solosachen von Peter Murphy und David J könnte ich viele weitere Stunden füllen. Vielleicht tue ich das ja irgendwann.</p><p>Interessant finde ich abschließend, dass der Bauhäusler, der selbst den geringsten Output hat, Kevin Dompe, gleich zwei Staffelstäbe weitergegeben hat, nämlich an seine Töchter Diva und Lola, die beide ins Musikgeschäft eingestiegen sind. Lola ist Schlagzeugerin der Band <a href="https://automatic-band.bandcamp.com/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Automatic</a> und Diva spielt Bass bei <a href="https://poptone.bandcamp.com/album/poptone" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Poptone</a>, der Band von Daniel Ash und ihrem Vater, die Songs von Bauhaus, Tones On Tail und Love And Rockets neu interpretiert.
