This Sculpt OS video walkthrough explains how to use Sculpt OS
We talk about the Genode project and Sculpt OS quite regularly on OSNews, but every time I've tried using Sculpt OS, I've always found it so different and so unique compared to everything else that I just couldn't wrap my head around it. I assume this stems from nothing but my own shortcomings, because the Genode

A Genode dev has just created a visual Sculpt OS walkthrough for the curious. The documentation is very thorough, but since Sculpt is so unusual, this video may be a better way for some new users to get oriented. https://genodians.org/nfeske/2025-01-30-sculpt-os-walkthrough #genode #sculpt #osdev

Genode Road Map 2025
Our updated road map dedicates the year 2025 to rigidity, clarity, and performance. The open brain-storming on our public mailing list inspired an ambitious feature schedule of our releases in 2025. Get a glimpse at Genode's foreseeable future by visiting the road map webpage.
@thinkpadmuseum Well I usually use OpenBSD, but in this case I might have to switch to Linux. I'm hesitating between NixOs and GuixSD.
But if #Genode had support for RK3588 I'd install SculptOS on it.

MNT Pocket Reform Sculpt 24.10 preview image
Within in the last release cycle we worked on adding and extending the support for the i.MX8MP SoC as also found in one of the SoM options for the MNT Pocket Reform and are happy to show-case a first preview version of Sculpt running on this handy computing device.

I'm finally replacing my (at least 8 years old) refurbished third generation Thinkpad X1 Carbon. It has been a good tool, but it's starting to show it's age, especially when web browsing..
So I've decided to order an #MNTMN Pocket Reform laptop. It's a two month wait so I'll keep using my thinkpad in the meantime (and probably for a little while after that while I get used to the Reform).
Not sure which OS I'll use on the Pocket, hopefully I'll find a way to get #OpenBSD working on it, but I"m also open to using #9Front, #GuixSD or #Genode SculptOS.
Sculpt OS 24.10 released with multi-monitor support
Genode's rapid development carries on apace. Whilst Genode itself is a so-called OS Framework - the computing version of a rolling chassis that can accept various engines (microkernels) and coachwork of the customer's choice - they also have an in-house PC desktop system. This flagship product, Sculpt OS, comes out on a bi-annual sche

We're proud to announce Sculpt OS 24.10 today!
With this release, the Genode-based Sculpt OS gains profound support for multi-monitor setups due to a largely revamped GUI stack, compatibility with Qt6, drivers ported from the Linux kernel version 6.6.47, and comprehensive debugging support.
Sculpt OS 24.10 is available as ready-to-use system image for PC hardware, the PinePhone, and the MNT Reform laptop.
