Only six #GeneralAssembly members of the #UN voted against #Palestine's right to #SelfDetermination on 15 Nov. In addition to the US and Israel, the other 'no's were from Argentina, Nauru, Paraguay, and Micronesia. These are the powers who still back #colonialism and #apartheid.
#Palestine (Israel) / Genocider Herzog to head Jewish Federations’ ‘General Assembly’
This guy. The guy the International Court of Justice (#ICJ) which found South Africa’s claims against #Israel regarding potential genocide plausible. In its resolution, the court highlighted statements from Israeli President Herzog, including remarks suggesting collective responsibility among Palestinians, which were interpreted as raising concerns about genocidal intent.
During a visit to reserve battalions, Herzog was photographed (by Haim Tzach / GPO) autographing an artillery shell intended for use in #Gaza, where he wrote the phrase “I rely on you” on the shell.
The General Assembly is organized by the Jewish Federations, taking place in Washington, DC from November 10-12.
The announcement, from July, says:
[…] Herzog has worked tirelessly since October 7th to foster hope and resiliencies among Israelis and continues to use his voice to promote unity and solidarity for global Jewish communities facing increased antisemitism.

Is suspension the same as expulsion @appassionato ? IIRC, South Africa was suspended, not expelled. I have a vague recollection that that was because of Security Council obstruction.

A country can be removed from the United Nations General Assembly via a vote based on the recommendation of the Security Council.
"A Member of the United Nations, which has persistently violated the Principles contained in the present Charter, may be expelled from the Organisation by the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council," Article 6 of the charter states.

Like all the other resolutions, Israel doesn't give a rats ass about it and no one is going to force them to do it.
It's just for ego of those bastards who don't do anything to stop Israel to use as proof they are doing "something" for their gullible public at home.

Just asking because that ICJ advisory opinion goes back to the General Assembly for its next session starting 10 September. Draft resolutions will get worked up. Personally, I'd like to add a bit of pushing my government (UK) towards effective wording on boycotts and sanctions.
