Finally got the fleece over the cabbages, but wrestling 15 ft/4.5m of fabric on a windy day by myself was no fun. It's ALWAYS windy here so it was challenging.Hope it holds up.Got the trellis in for the beans & it looks like the soil might finally be warm enough to sow the seeds. We've declared TOMORROW is plant out the tomatoes day! I've gave a cart load of tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant plants to the neighbors, so they'll be busy, too.

Gentrification, nursery edition.

Our previously solid local nursery has been shifting to more decorative plants to the detriment of its fruit/nuts/veggies assortment.

Not much different anymore from the Home Depot & big box garden centers, complete with useless metal & plastic decorative stuff.

Retail shipping of live plants here is not really practical much of the year -- they get literally cooked.

I used to be sad at how much shade there is in the yard. Now I wish there was more because the plants are so interesting!

I took a pic of the forming flower buds of the Solomon's seals (Polygonatum biflorum) in sun or we wouldn't be able to see them. You'll need to zoom in anyway. 🙂 Wood sedges (Carex blanda) are still in the pots but going anyway. #NativePlants #gardening

Today's project for Mother's Day: extended this planter by three courses of 4x6 to make it higher for ease of access and hopefully to make it dog resistant as well.

This is for some random herbs and leafy greens.
