En cherchant à faire redémarrer de vieux terminaux mobile pour en faire un client pour ma #domotique personnelle, je suis retombé sur mon vieux Google (/Samsung) #Nexus (premier du nom et qui m'avait fait pas mal d'années) : il s'allume toujours et sur (feu) #FirefoxOS ! Bon il rame et l'OS est carrément désuet aujourd'hui (les vilaines langues diront qu'il l'était déjà à l'époque) mais ça tourne. Bon, par contre il n'est pas sur la bonne bande wifi pour communiquer avec le #Homelab...

My dreams for #Mozilla :

A lightweight Firefox edition (in the spirit of XFCE and MX Linux, 100% written in Rust). That was Firefox back in 2004.

- Built-in Multi-account container addon on a window base (new window, new container).
- Built-in Temporary containers addon.
- Built-in LocalCDN addon.

Mobile #FirefoxOS / boot2gecko back. We need open hardware and free softwares in our pockets.

Mozilla crawled, ad-free, web search engine (this has proven useful while cryptocurrencies nor AI did).

The Definitive Guide to Publishing KaiOS Apps

I love how they set out firm constraints to uphold quality and social expectations in a way that scales to a largely non-technical audience. It makes sense, because if one app starts to fill the disk, it's not clear that it would reflect bad on the app, it reflects bad on the phone and its ecosystem!

BRB, downloading a weekly >100MB update to an iOS app, should be a web app...

agree. A translation from my post:

Mozilla will discontinue its instance of #mastodon here at #fediverse in December.

For the charities. From #FirefoxOS, maybe even before, the #Mozilla foundation seems too erratic. You cannot maintain an important decision that needs time to settle down for more than 1 or 2 years. Ai goes gives up and wastes everything that was done and invested And I speak as ex #mozillian (their volunteer).

I still believe in the importance and work they do. But they could be reaping much better and incredible fruits if they were making better decisions. It's a shame, we're all the losers.
