Wow, Orca can't keep focus right in Fedora 42. I'm not even sure how to describe this well enough. On Enafore, Mastodon client, arrow through your timeline. You'll get stuck in a loop of going down a few posts, then you'll be brought back to a previous one, and you'll be stuck around that post unless you arrow down fast enough or something. Wow I might just move back to Windows now on this computer at least.

Our project need a little bit help from Budgie users.

Can someone confirm that the following shell command **immediately** shut down the system without asking back or bringing up a confirmation dialog?

gdbus call --system --dest org.freedesktop.login1 --object-path /org/freedesktop/login1 --method org.freedesktop.login1.Manager.PowerOff false

Can someone confirm that the following shell command does bring up a confirmation dialog about the question if you really want to shutdown?

@christianc postgres is an incredible #foss story. squaring the circle, being both stable and flexible / innovative with all sorts of wild extensions pgxn.org/

Not so familiar with the #java universe. There is in my book this unfulfilled promise of a true open source mobile OS / app ecosystem. Maybe #android (and kotlin) will be that eventually but for now its fate too closely tied to adtech.

I had a post go "viral" (or its equivalent here) about how to install Linux instead of throwing your Windows 10 machine away, and keep getting non alt-text reply guys posting this, I think, to try to troll me. (I assume they are the 3-4 actual Windows fanboys who made it to the Fediverse).

But, actually, I think it's hilarious. It's great advice, actually... I don't see why you can't just use Linux for a lot of things. 🤪

Kdenlive · KdenliveWe are proud to announce the release of Kdenlive 25.04.0. Here are some highlights of this major release:

Fedora 42 comes with TCL 9. Emacspeak's Outloud speech server, using IBMTTS which is the most developed speech server, was made for TCL 8.6 and TCLX 8.4. Or the other way around, but I think that's right. Well, I guess things have changed in TCL 9, because the speech server won't compile now. Ah well, Linux gives without knowing, and takes away without knowing. And Emacspeak hasn't been updated in a year, even with the main branch, so I guess that part of blindness history, after a good 30 years, is over. Yay. Let's see the blindness news networks cover that eh? Nah. Instead, it ended with a sigh of "As expected."

Errors include:

atcleci.cpp:773:30: error: expected ‘,’ or ‘...’ before ‘objv’
773 | Tcl_Obj *CONST objv[]) {
| ^~~~

I wanna keep alive. This is our little space in this whole shitshow. One incident can't change the fact that this is one of the nicest instances around. People talk about and life, they listen even when they don't post, they engage, they look past your silliness. These are reasons enough to keep it alive. Let's not give up. Let's not fear the internet . Moving to another instance just emboldens them. We shouldn't.

@openmobile graphene has had leadership issues, I agree. I believe that the person in question has stepped back from leadership. Regardless, it was more down to hardware for me (I was strongly considering getting a pixel 9a also), but I was leaning towards fairphone and graphene doesn't support it so that was out. /e/ while their implementation is admirable it was too iOS-like in it's look. is french so as I am Irish I could but in it shouldn't matter and is a (...)

But I'm using the process of working through problems to re-acquaint myself with using my drawing pad as I try to ramp up practicing art again as well as testing out different #FOSS "doodle" apps, i.e. simple programs I can launch when I want to visually work something out without fussing with a whiteboard. So far #Rnote has been really impressive for this! Highly recommend. github.com/flxzt/rnote
