PWS Academy<p>Earlier this year, Swift reached a new milestone by having its first-ever devroom at FOSDEM. Here's a look back at how that finally came to be.</p><p><a href="https://www.pwsacademy.org/posts/fosdem-2025.html" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">pwsacademy.org/posts/fosdem-20</span><span class="invisible">25.html</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/swiftlang" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>swiftlang</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/fosdem25" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fosdem25</span></a></p>
Code4Thought<p>Early this year I made my way to <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/FOSDEM25" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>FOSDEM25</span></a>. Specifically to the Open Research devroom that&#39;s been running since 2020. Wonder what they&#39;ve been up to? Ashamed to say I'd never heard of the phrase "social and solidarity economy" before today

"Solidarity economy or social and solidarity economy (SSE) refers to a wide range of economic activities that aim to prioritize social profitability instead of purely financial profits"

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solidari

Found in the following FOSDEM25 talk
"A Business Intelligence architecture for Social and Solidarity Economy."

[#fosdem25] Recuperato questo intervento di @ed che sintetizza la definizione attuale di #OpenSourceAI e come ci si è arrivati:
fosdem.org/2025/schedule/event

I admit it's been *a while* but the @hut23 team finally got around to publishing our suggestions for #FOSDEM25 presentations we especially enjoyed.

All of these were recorded and are well worth the time to watch.

There were so many great talks at #FOSDEM and so many we inevitably missed. Please share your own suggestions if you have them.

@frameworkcomputer

As I told earlier here in a longer thread with @zygoon , Yuning Liang, founder of DeepComputing has donated their RISC-V board for Framework laptops to OpenPrinting on the last FOSDEM. Thanks a lot!!

Now we can test the printing stack on this platform, including making Snaps for RISC-V.

Printing works so far, by the way.

And here are my adventures of setting it up:

#FOSDEM25 3/4 Education track, FOSDEM Junior track, and unexpected Hallway track

Thanks to Peter Mathijssen and Bart Mathijssen from Coderdojo Tilburg, this is the second year that FOSDEM has had a Junior track, where families could come and experience lots of different coding and making activities. Peter had gathered lots of volunteers and timetabled hands-on sessions in two rooms. And in a third room on the corridor there was an Education…
