La peste des petits ruminants (PPR) est une maladie très contagieuse et hautement mortelle pour les ovins et les caprins. La maladie sévit principalement en Afrique, au Moyen-Orient et en Asie. Mais elle vient d’émerger en Europe, avec des premiers cas observés en 2024 en Grèce et en Roumanie. Le Cirad est laboratoire de référence sur la PPR pour l’OMSA, la FAO et l’Union européenne. Along the Equator, it mainly is sheep and bovines that account for methane emissions.
The biggest producers are Ethiopia and Sudan (South Sudan included).
