#TIL: #Firefox on #Linux works fine with

user.max_user_namespaces = 0

as well as with

user.max_user_namespaces = 100

but not with

user.max_user_namespaces = 1

which seems to have been set by default on my #DebianUnstable since last week or so.

Also Firefox' error messages on the shell where I started it weren't really that helpful:

Failed to launch tab subprocess @fork (Error:28): file ipc/[…]
fork() failed: No space left on device: file ipc/[…]

A great day for all those using #mechanicalkeyboards on systems running #Debian:

The #QMK #CLI tool is now available in #DebianUnstable! tracker.debian.org/pkg/qmk 🎉 So cool!

(It's though still uninstallable due to a missing dependency, still waiting in the so called NEW queue: ftp-master.debian.org/new/pyth — But I assume this will follow soon, too.)

#TIL about #lsix (github.com/hackerb9/lsix) and calling #xterm with the option "-ti vt340" to be able to display inline images inside an xterm—thanks to lsix having just arrived in #DebianUnstable: packages.debian.org/sid/lsix

These inline images (or the backend used to display them) seem to be called #sixel graphics. And they're said to work transparently through SSH. Maybe better than #chafa or #catimg.

#BloomScrolling on the terminal! 😉

Just noticed that my #Thinkpad #X240 / #X250 #Debian Sid (aka #DebianUnstable) installation had its 10th anniversary in April this year via packages.debian.org/unstable/i

The installation is older than the X250 as I initially bought an X240: It finally had a usable resolution compared to the X230—but the awkward touchpad without hardware buttons for the thumbstick. So the next year I bought an X250 and moved over the installation. And my father got an X240 for his birthday. 😇

Anyone has an idea why for a few weeks, the #ComposeKey under #X11 on #Debian Unstable (set via "setxkbmap -option compose:menu -option compose:rwin -option compose:rctrl -option compose:ralt") suddenly only works if I release it before pressing the first key of the wanted key combo?

If you see e.g. a "a instead of an ä from me, it's because I was used to already press " before I released the Compose Key. Very annoying and happens far too often. 🤬

@WinstonSmith: #XMMS2 is still in #Debian, just currently not in #DebianTesting, but in #Debian11 aka the current #DebianStable as well as in #DebianUnstable: tracker.debian.org/pkg/xmms2

(Or doesn't XMMS2 have that #WinAmp UI anymore? Can't remember as I no more use #GUI music players anymore for quite some years. I just use an #xterm and the #CLI #mediaplayer #mpv. Also works for many video streaming portals.)
