(It's a pretty cool concept overall, but I think giving KDE Plasma for Linux newcomers isn't really the best idea, because the tons of customization options, and occasional bugs here and there might scare away some Windows users. I would rather give them Zorin OS with their customized version of GNOME, or Linux Mint / LMDE with Cinnamon. (No, I'm not a KDE hater, I think it's a great option for those who want to fully customize their desktop experience, or the PewDiePie type of guys who already adopted the mindset of tweaking around, playing around with the options, not wanting to go back to Windows when encountering a bug, but it's not for every newcomer.))

The release of Debian 13 "Trixie" is near as the Full Freeze starts on July 27th. The final release it set for August 9th.
Debian 13 will add official support for riscv64, a total amount of 11294 new packages, over 42821 packages will be updated, and it will transition to 64-bit time_t ABI

Another example how our #education system fails to prepare our kids for life:
I met an engineer(!) who thought that switching from a 4G Internet router to fiber glass Internet would boost the signal strength in his Ethernet sockets and of his #WiFi so that it'd reach more corners in his house.
He further thought that he'd be able to drive his 4K TV screen for streaming high-res videos using a 7 year old 200€ laptop on HDMI. The poor thing even struggles to run very basic apps because of his very limited hardware features. He also accused the 4G Internet router for the resulting streaming issues.
I spend several hours to explain things to him. And now he's going to buy a used (lenovo) notebook to run #Linux on it, which I showed to him briefly.
(Btw, #Debian13 + #Gnome perfectly integrates the whole #Google #cloud shit.)
So, people actually *want* to learn. We just don't teach the right stuff.

resutling in the new postgresql version running with the wrong configuration after running pg_upgradecluster.
@unixjunk1e Yeah I hope so to, Trixie is pretty stable, TBH!
Attending a party the 9th of august. I'm going to pretend it's a #releaseparty for #debian13 that has gotten out of control. I might have some dumb ideas related to Debian merch. Maybe it'll result in some silly photos. Would love to hear your good and bad ideas as well.
The Debian project plans to officially release its 13th version, with the code name Trixie, on August 9th 2025.
Debian Trixie prévue pour le 9 août ! \o/
Comprendre : la release du 9 août deviendra la nouvelle Stable LTS.
#Debian13.0 Ready To Introduce Formal #RISCV Support But Still Bound By Slow Hardware
#Debian's RISC-V ambitions date back a decade when thfirst #RISCV64 port was started for Debian and then after all the work over the years, Debian 13.0 in August will finally debut it as an official architecture. #RV64GC is the current target for Debian RISC-V and using UEFI-based booting as the default. Over seventeen thousand source Debian packages are building for RISC-V with Trixie.

The Debian release team today shared their final release plans for Debian 13 "Trixie" that aims to be out as stable in less than one month's time.
Debian developers are working to officially release Debian Linux 13.0 on the 9th of August. For that 9 August release to happen, the full freeze of Debian 13 will happen on 27 July.
Debian developers are hoping for a lot of testing to happen between now and then for Debian Trixie, especially in that final week during the freeze period.

Planned release on Aug 9. That's three weeks from now.
If you don't want to update immediately when Debian 13 hits your mirror, now is a good time to check your /etc/apt/sources.list* to verify that they reference "bookworm" and not "stable", or "trixie" and not "testing" if you want to settle onto Trixie instead of staying on Testing.
