Ugly Bag of Mostly Water<p>Why is someone setting off fireworks at 10:22 PM on a Sunday night in <a href="https://friendsofdesoto.social/tags/DavisCA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DavisCA</span></a></p>

Megan Lynch (she/her)<p>The motel I'm staying at has loaner cruiser bikes so guests can use those to get around this area (if they aren't checked out). They also have a bike rack outside their small conference center! (Terrible racks and siting, but still get credit for trying.)</p><p><a href="https://mas.to/tags/DavisCA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DavisCA</span></a></p>
Megan Lynch (she/her)<p>Upright delta trikes are rising in popularity around Davis.</p><p>This is the second one of these rearbench delta trikes I've seen. My guess is that they're popular because they're cheaper than most quality cargo bikes, but also because some students did not learn how to balance a bike when younger &amp; fear it. So the trike is preferred even though the parking &amp; other infra here is inaccessible to trikes.</p><p> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/DavisCA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DavisCA</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/Trike" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Trike</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/BikeTooter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BikeTooter</span></a></p>

There are two janky single-file temp aluminum ramps from the street to the curb in that whole two blocks. <a href="https://mas.to/tags/Ableism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Ableism</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/DavisCA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DavisCA</span></a></p>
Megan Lynch (she/her)<p>Suffice it to say, there are dangers to being around large trees, but I personally would not want to live in a city or suburb that doesn't have large trees.</p><p>What needs to happen is what used to happen - we used to have robust public horticulture that cared for the trees and maintained them. It wasn't just outsourced to chainsaw jockeys. If knowledgeable people in sufficient numbers and with sufficient resources care for public trees = lower risk.</p><p><a href="https://ecoevo.social/tags/UrbanForest" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UrbanForest</span></a> <a href="https://ecoevo.social/tags/DavisCA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DavisCA</span></a> <a href="https://ecoevo.social/tags/Infrastructure" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Infrastructure</span></a> <a href="https://ecoevo.social/tags/TreeLaw" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TreeLaw</span></a></p>
Megan Lynch (she/her)<p>There is a complex web of issues here and while I've seen the occasional article talking about things right after a windstorm, I haven't yet seen a newspaper or journal article that really takes on the complex web of issues in street/public tree policy in the US.</p><p>Maybe the arborists are more aware of what's out there.</p><p> <a href="https://ecoevo.social/tags/UrbanForest" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UrbanForest</span></a> <a href="https://ecoevo.social/tags/DavisCA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DavisCA</span></a> <a href="https://ecoevo.social/tags/Infrastructure" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Infrastructure</span></a> <a href="https://ecoevo.social/tags/TreeLaw" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TreeLaw</span></a></p>
