AlanGrassia<p>I know I’m not even close to finishing my restoration of a <a href="https://noc.social/tags/MacClassic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MacClassic</span></a>, but is it too early to be thinking about <a href="https://noc.social/tags/DOScember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DOScember</span></a> ?</p><p>I may have “accidentally” purchased an <a href="https://noc.social/tags/IBM5150" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>IBM5150</span></a> for some holiday cheer.</p><p><a href="https://noc.social/tags/VintageComputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>VintageComputing</span></a> <a href="https://noc.social/tags/RetroComputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RetroComputing</span></a></p>
Justin D. Morgan<p>I bought upgrades new and old for my IBM XT, but there wasn’t enough <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/DOScember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DOScember</span></a> to take a look at them then… so I thought what better time to take a look at them than tonight, live starting at 9PM EST! <a href="https://www.youtube.com/live/1JQnjEFHxGw?si=sQ9-cd4jutfNkc7M" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/live/1JQnjEFHxGw?s</span><span class="invisible">i=sQ9-cd4jutfNkc7M</span></a></p>

Gammitin (Ben) 💾<p>Needs cleaning up (pencil marks), but looks pretty decent. I just need to add a floppy activity LED light and small hole for the speaker (floppy drive sounds). Then it's mounting it all inside. Not too far off now, <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Doscember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Doscember</span></a> has turned into <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Dosuary" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Dosuary</span></a> 😆</p>
Charlie Balogh<p>In a classic "it's me" move, now that it's January (after the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/DOScember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DOScember</span></a> deadline), I finally managed to boot the 486DLC into DOS.</p><p>Also wrote my first XT-IDE ROM in the process, not because it's technically needed, but because I wanted auto-detection, because I was too lazy to figure out the "geometry" of the 256MB DoM I use... 🤪</p><p>Also managed to get online using mTCP (IRC log feat. <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@ratman" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>ratman</span></a></span>), and figured out this thing is pretty slow for a 486DLC. Oh, well... 🤷‍♂️ </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/msdos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>msdos</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/retrocomputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retrocomputing</span></a></p>
Thomas Fuchs<p>Load up some <a href="https://bsky.app/search?q=%23DOScember" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#DOScember</a> fireworks in your browser. Yes, the browser on your phone can emulate a complete 90s PC with ease. <a href="https://archive.org/details/msdos_festival_EXPLO121" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">archive.org/details/msdo...</a><br><br><a href="https://archive.org/details/msdos_festival_EXPLO121" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">MS-DOS Shareware: EXPLO121 : R...</a></p>
Charlie Balogh<p>Last minute <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/DOScember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DOScember</span></a> entry, if fiddling with BIOS stuff counts... A while ago I bought this Soyo 386DX mainboard with a 486DLC + FPU in it from evilBay, with the intent of reproducing one of the quirky and weird setups of my youth. But that board had Mr. BIOS in it, while this thing came with AMI BIOS.</p><p>So I bought a handful of 27C512 EPROMs, burned a matching Mr. BIOS image thanks to the preservation efforts of people on Vogons.org, a quick chip swap and here we go. 😍</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/msdos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>msdos</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/retrocomputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retrocomputing</span></a></p>
Justin D. Morgan<p>The sun is about to set on <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/DOScember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DOScember</span></a> and 2024, but hopefully my Sun will let me run DOS applications into 2025 via the SunPCi card… that is, if it works - it could be my final eBay regret of 2024. Let’s find out live this evening starting at 6PM EST! <a href="https://www.youtube.com/live/DcIa4CoPl90?si=dQo7QSowlpixpzUv" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/live/DcIa4CoPl90?s</span><span class="invisible">i=dQo7QSowlpixpzUv</span></a></p>

Gammitin (Ben) 💾<p>A big thank you to RetroTechChris (on X) for sending these FPM RAM sticks all the way from the USA, for my <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Doscember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Doscember</span></a> 486 build. Very much appreciated, I can't wait to test them out once my build is done 🙏</p>

Dudley of Yesterzine :sms:<p>NEW VIDEO : This <a href="https://topspicy.social/tags/Doscember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Doscember</span></a> there are questions to answer. Is Microsoft Flight Sim the oldest gaming series still supported? What is the future of Multimedia before any computer can do multiple media? How do you do an interactive movie that is neither interactive nor a movie? <a href="https://youtu.be/uyw92MaY0kg" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">youtu.be/uyw92MaY0kg</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>
Justin D. Morgan<p>What’s madness? Buying high (and low) value motherboards on eBay and thinking I can repair them, that’s what. Let’s take a look at a few DOS-compatible boards for <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/DOScember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DOScember</span></a> to see if I can repair them, live tonight starting at 6PM EST! <a href="https://www.youtube.com/live/JD_oHm54rrE?si=jY7FSAR-Z8hDcj-N" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/live/JD_oHm54rrE?s</span><span class="invisible">i=jY7FSAR-Z8hDcj-N</span></a></p>
