MikeToday’s delicious Van Damme double feature: Kickboxer, a perfect appetizer, and Bloodsport, a perfect main course.<br>

Both filled with martial arts goodness, Paul Hertzog’s synth-heavy tracks, and Stan Bush’s raspy songs – not to mention training montages with mustached masters, lots of splits, and nasty oriental opponents.<br>
<br>
Kickboxer is already good, but Bloodsport is great – it’s my favorite JCVD flick and my favorite martial arts movie, improving on Kickboxer in every aspect: a better story, better action, better characters, better production values, a better theme song, and overall better music.<br>

Doctor LURK<p>Just finished my first (mercifully sanitized) viewing of Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, thanks to <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Svengoolie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Svengoolie</span></a>!. I'll be honest - without the bits that I've little doubt aged like milk (I could spot a couple from context, and they were... not pleasant), I liked this one! It's affably bad, and the jokes fly thick enough that some of them land. Would watch again, preferably not sober. DeathBecomesDavid<p><span>Whammy is doing god’s work: VHS video store that offers VCR repair classes. Also has a microcinema in the back. I’m not about to go out and buy a VCR just to make use of their awesome library, but their calendar has some really flavor to it. This month is all cyberpunk noir and I recognize zero of the titles (good sign).</span></p>

d4doome<p>Prince of Darkness (1987), one of my favourite John Carpenter movies. A terrible ancient secret is awakening. Very creepy, great visuals, lots of weirdness and dread. Interesting haunted house variant.
