I wouldn't normally choose to race 2 hilly miles only 9 days after a marathon, but the series is a favourite of mine and the first race is part of my running club's championship.

I didn't know what to expect, and the jog over suggested not much. Went out hard and somehow held on for 3rd lady and a decent time of 13:32.

Just in time to change my watch training status from 'Decreasing' to 'Performance'.

Wings for Life Worldrun 2025 ist dann auch eingetütet. Ich hab mir dieses Jahr keine Kilometer vorgenommen, immerhin ist der Düsseldorf Marathon grad mal ne Woche her, da darf man sowas entspannt angehen.
Bei 30km war es dann auch gut und ich hab Stopp gedrückt, es wurde merklich schwerer und mit der Distanz bin ich diesmal reichlich zufrieden.
Es ging wie die letzten Jahre wieder auf der stumpfen 1,3km Runde durch den Park bei mir um die Ecke. Kopf aus und rennen, das ganze ist auch ein wenig Mental-Training für mich.

Ein wunderschöner Sommertag mit 28 Grad am 1. Mai. Scheinbar sind alle Düsseldorfer draussen bummeln, auf den Wiesen am grillen oder … laufen Das war schon wieder erstaunlich locker heute, der Marathon ist ja mal grade vier Tage her. Regeneration? Kann ich!

Out to club this evening in the race t-shirt (as is tradition). It has been super hot here today so was grateful to do the shortest distance available (an abbreviated 4 miles). Just as well as my quads are still shredded and my left knee gave up just as we got back.

Rounds out the month with 228.2 miles (367.31km) run, and 9,672ft (2,948m) of elevation gained.

Nach 5 Jahren endlich wieder #Düsseldorf Marathon! Mega Stimmung, sehr gute Orga, perfektes Wetter und für mich ein total runder Lauf mit neuer PB.
Das war einfach nur klasse!
Noch anzumerken: gelaufen mit gebrochenem kleinen Zeh rechts und frischer Tätowierung in der Kniekehle links. Man muss nur wollen!

Today was always going to be about managing the heat, but with 3 loo stops in the first half I considered DNFing at Tower Bridge. I opted to continue using a run-walk strategy and only ended up with a 13 minute positive split in the end.

Not my fastest, not my slowest, but my last for a while, and I kept myself out of the medical tent (which was the main goal).

Definite shades of 2018, but with fewer water stations (and with more mileage between them in the first half) I think some problems could have been avoided. I wait to see what the attrition rate was. The ice was great (where it was available). Straight into the crop top it went.

A little shakeout with the sister at Hampstead Heath #parkrun and jumped in to do some barcode scanning afterwards. All ready for tomorrow, even have my #flatlay done. Weather is looking far too hot, so I'll be taking it easy and trying to enjoy myself as much as possible. 1 day to go.
