matthew - retroedge.techOne way to handle this problem is to make a CloneZilla image on an extra storage drive instead of doing a "disk to disk" clone. I try to avoid "disk to disk" clones and favor "disk to image" operation, then "restore image to disk" operation to get it to the final destination. This removes the possibility of me accidentally overwriting the wrong drive. It take more time, as you have to transfer twice. Making a Mint live disc was super easy. Even checking the sha256 actually worked, (I dicked around with Kleopatra for hours on Windows and didn't get it right.) But getting CloneZilla to into the correct state took a lot of research to make sure I didn't fuck anything up.Still need to:Use Rufus (Windows only) to make a Windows 11 "Windows to Go" where it'll run on a USB drive. It's on a Dell E6530 - not the best machine, but still capable of a lot of common computing tasks.
