@rexbron so this means our government would need to address the #crtc to make this happen? Along with proper reigns on telecomm companies.

Our elder needs cable, cannot understand streaming. The fees? Internet, cable, and landline are $288 per month (thank you #telus). This is not even discussing devices.

We had loads of telecomm promises. Please tell me Carney cares.

There was a time where #CRTC under the 2006 Bernier Policy Direction expected ecery ISP to build its own facilities to each home. This is what happens when you do that. Focus on the wiring, not the building 😉

📢 We're expecting a decision from the Supreme Court tomorrow that's related to wholesale Internet rates. It's either the end of the road, or a chance to keep fighting. It takes a bit to unpack what this decision is about, so bear with me for a short thread 🧵👇🏼

TL;DR: Tomorrow, the Supreme Court of Canada will release its decision in #TekSavvy's leave application over the CRTC's 2021 wholesale rates: decisions.scc-csc.ca/scc-csc/n #cdnpoli #CRTC

"The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) had set Tuesday as the date for transitioning to #nextgeneration911 The telecom regulator now says it has moved that deadline to March 2027.

In a Friday decision, the #CRTC acknowledged the delay means “Canadians will have to wait longer for the enhancements” the new systems will bring.

CTVNews · CRTC delays implementation of next-generation 911 service for two yearsNext-generation 911 service — which would allow Canadians to send texts or video to summon help — won’t be implemented for another two years.

Mondo Globo Inc. has applied to the #CRTC to add Arabic-language news channel Al Hadath to the list of channels authorized for distribution in Canada. It is part of the Saudi-owned Al Arabiya group. It says it is "in advanced discussions with Rogers" to launch on its platforms.

@fagstein The abusive redation of documenst at #CRTC is a sign of conversion from an administrative tribunal to a private lobbying endeavour where regulated entities refuse to have "by the book" proceedings and instead only allow the Commision to participate in proceeding privately. In the past, Section 39 was involked usually only for pricing/costing purposes.

WildBrain, which owns Family channel and related services, has filed a #CRTC complaint against Rogers alleging it is treating its services unfairly compared to Disney+. How exactly is unclear as the complaint is heavily redacted.

FCC restarts investigations on ABC, CBS and NBC due to complaints of bia against King DOnald the First.

The complaints were filed by the Center for American Rights and supported Trump's claims of bias regarding ABC's fact-checking during a presidential debate, the editing of a CBS 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris, and NBC putting Harris on a Saturday Night Live episode.

During the writing of my #CRTC submission yesterday, thre was a question Rogers' planned update to DOCSIS 4. Ended up reading some Cablelabs documents. Looks to me like the final coax upgrade. This is designed to use all of the coax (no more TV chnnels) and will require cablecos to fix any coax cable defects in a neighbouhood that could interfere with spectrum propagation at all those frequencies.
Marketing allows download to 10gbps (like DOCSIS 3.1) and upload of 6gbps (3.1 max at 1gbps)

@mpjgregoire Champagne presided over the purposeful downfall of the ISP when it "supported" more competitive rates being rejected by CRTC. He delayed every response to a petition to governor in counil to the last minute (and the last one was actually pubslihed one day late - the limit is stipulated by law) and the whole reason is to give Bell what it wants delay delay delay. There are petitions that he could have rejected outright upon reception to signal he agreed with #CRTC decision.

Funny: after spending mucy time testing every available pair, he found bad one,s ones with bridge taps etc and after 2 hours agreed to bring me back on the original pair that worked and will get the office to do the paperwork to just transfer it from old (obod) to new (Server north). What a waste of time for the workers who didnt need to come here to begin with as this was just an accounting change.
