James Akers<p>I made another neon doodle I have been wanting to make for awhile. A mini rasta doodle. </p><p>Blacklight is notoriously difficult (and expensive) but sorta fun when you get used to it. Of course Emerald, a usual nemesis of mine, was acting up. I shouldn't have left behind the imperfection from the emerald cracking the first time. <br>Long story short it isn't the kiln pumped 9 headed coil of black and colorful spikes that I wanted- but I did learn a few things. I want less green. Perhaps un-coated (transparent) emerald, or if I can find a larger diameter of emerald. I also want to use Saffron- the golden shade of yellow tubing instead of the easier to work with Sunflower. The saffron will make it more challenging, but a better warm white in the end. And bigger red sections. <br>I gotta make some acrylic box files. James Akers<p>Here is that Doodle from yesterday lit. </p><p>Its hard to describe the zing that adding blacklight to the light mix adds, but the 10mm blacklight really shines. Usually the whites overpower everything, but when you can mix an match the tube sizes, then the brightness changes. </p><p>I do like the balance. Maybe a little more red next time. I also wanna change the sequence for three white an blacks as well.</p><p>It looks odd... but amazingly, you can get the mercury that close to the oven and it be 800 degrees overnight. I try an keep it close, to minimize the weight of the trap. If its too long an unweildy, it can crack before you get the mercury in or tip it off (and destroy the piece- mercury waste). James Akers<p>Spent my Easter eating a delicious Danish Kringle with Ali and then made this doodle.</p><p> I am excited, its forbidden in a few ways. One of which is the tube sizes, which are fine tuned for brightness. That big bright white 25mm tube is thin lead glass- and it would take awhile to get it as hot as the 10 mm <a href="https://expressional.social/tags/blacklight" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>blacklight</span></a> tube, which will be made brighter by being the narrowest, most focused part of the arc. </p><p>On a bombarder, that would suck the narrow blacklight in. It is possibly the best combination to be bombarded in terms of glass heat sensitivity- buut I have an oven, so its baking out over night so I can make this the first try guaranteed :).</p><p>Hooray for Easter!
